New Titan V-18 Self-Unloading Trailers Lighten the Load for High Wear and Impact Applications

Titan has introduced a new line of live-floor trailers for demanding applications featuring a lighter weight aluminum version of the successful V-Floor unloader from KEITH Mfg.

Delhi, ON - Expanding on the success of its "extreme-duty" V-Floor trailers, Titan Trailers has launched a new series of live floor trailers for demanding applications. Titan Trailers introduce the new V-18 aluminum V-Floor unloading system from KEITH Mfg. Co. The V-18 aluminum live floor is a lighter-weight version of the steel V-Floor developed by KEITH in 2003 for use in extreme applications, such as demolition and abrasive materials, that are too demanding for standard self-unloaders.

The V-18 floor is constructed with 18 aluminum slats, where the original V-Floor system is built with high-yield steel or aluminum and uses 9 slats. The V-18 design is based on the same unique sub-deck used as the V-Floor, which provides resistance to leaks and heat without floor seals that would be damaged by excessive wear.

More capacity for high-impact and abrasive loads
The aluminum V-18 system is intended for materials that may be too demanding on a standard slat, but do not require the ruggedness of a steel V-Floor slat. Recommended applications include municipal solid waste, recycled materials, wood chips, construction debris, fertilizers and farm chemicals and other fine materials.

Many of these applications were handled in the past by steel-body dump trailers. However, dump bodies reach their practical payload limit around 50 cubic yards and often have problems with off-balance loads on uneven work sites. A 48 ft. Titan trailer, meanwhile, offers more than double the payload capacity - up to 130 cubic yards - while the self-unloading system maintains a sure footing for the trailer while it walks off the load.

According to Mike Kloepfer, President of Titan Trailers Inc., Titan will offer V-18 trailers with a variety of slat profiles, including an Impact Series for high wear materials and impact applications. The Titan V-18 live floors are being offered to fit trailers with an inside width of 98.5" (250.19 cm).

The KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® system is a horizontal unloader, eliminating the need for tipping or dumping. Aluminum or steel slats run the length of the trailer floor. Actuated by three hydraulic cylinders. This sequence "walks" material out. Systems can be bi-directional for both loading and unloading product. With few moving parts, the systems are durable and are low maintenance.

Here's the kicker for V-18 trailers!

Dale Handrich, the owner of Handrich Trucking Inc. in Mio, Michigan, has been building his fleet of Titan trailers since 2001. He took delivery of the first Titan V-18 trailer last year and reports that the new system has met all his needs and expectations. Handrich hauls a wide range of commodities, from coal to shredded rubber to farm produce. He says "This floor is going to outlast my career, thanks to its design and thickness. It's like none other."

His V-18 unit also features a "kicker plate" he developed with Titan to expedite the off-loading of non-flowing or compressed material. The kicker plate is hinged at the top of the front of the trailer to "kick" compressed bulk materials away from the wall of the trailer, and prevent the material from falling backward. Working with the V-Plow, the trailer unloads cleanly and quickly with minimal operator clean-up. "Ever since we put this trailer on the road," Handrich says, "...my drivers haven't had to go inside of it once to clean it out!"
