Reagent Kit facilitates cell-based image analysis.

September 4, 2009 - Specifically designed for drug discovery, Cellomics Synaptogenesis High Content Screening Reagent Kit enables simultaneous detection of neuronal population, neurite, pre-synaptic vesicle, post-synaptic puncta, and synapse using fixed end-point assay that is based on immunofluorescence detection in cells grown on standard high-density microplates. In addition to HCS instruments, cells labeled by kit reagents can be viewed and analyzed by other fluorescence microscopes.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Introduces New Synaptogenesis Kit for Simple and Reliable Cell-Based Image Analysis

ROCKFORD, Ill. (August 28, 2009) - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced the availability of the Thermo Scientific Cellomics Synaptogenesis High Content Screening (HCS) Reagent Kit, the latest addition to its range of Cellomics HCS reagent kits. The kit enables simultaneous detection of neuronal population, neurite, pre-synaptic vesicle, post-synaptic puncta and synapse using a fixed end-point assay that is based on immunofluorescence detection in cells grown on standard high-density microplates.

The Thermo Scientific Cellomics Synaptogenesis HCS reagent kit has been specifically designed to enable drug discovery and systems biology researchers to uniquely measure synaptic function utilizing the full benefit of a sophisticated new technology in high-content cell-based image analysis. Offering simplicity and streamlined preparation of quality samples in the laboratory, the kit has been optimized with a Thermo Scientific ArrayScan HCS reader that uses the Neuronal Profiling BioApplication software module to identify the synapse measured by colocalization of the pre-synaptic marker with the post-synaptic marker.

The Thermo Scientific Synaptogenesis kit has been validated in cellular imaging assays for reliable and reproducible results and it works on all HCS platforms, offering flexibility in end-user instrumentation. In addition to HCS instruments, cells labeled by the kit reagents can be viewed and analyzed by other fluorescence microscopes. The kit also saves valuable research time because it requires no optimization of assay development.

Thermo Fisher Scientific offers a range of fully integrated cellular imaging solutions that includes imaging technologies, fluorescent reagents, engineered cells, image analysis software, data management, automation, informatics and bioinformatics tools. Thermo Scientific Cellomics HCS reagent kits provide easy-to-use, validated kits with methods and reagents to prepare imaging-quality samples.

For more information on the Thermo Scientific Cellomics range of products, please call 1-800-432-4091. Alternatively, please visit www.thermo.com/hcs.
