Biometric SDK speeds fingerprint identification development.

September 1, 2009 - Using One Touch® I.D. Software Development Kit, developers can embed fingerprint identification into applications for touch-and-go authentication. Program helps applications combat double-dipping fraud by identifying people trying to hide behind multiple identities to inappropriately gain access to services, entitlements, or employment. Providing .NET programming interface, SDK also optimizes productivity by eliminating need for usernames, ID numbers, PINs, and swipe cards.

DigitalPersona Makes High-Performance Fingerprint Identification Easy for Commercial Application Developers

New Low-Cost One Touch(R) I.D. SDK Enables Developers to Add Fast 'Touch-and-Go' Authentication to Applications for Combating Fraud and Cutting Helpdesk Costs

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Aug. 25 /-- DigitalPersona, Inc., a leader in fingerprint identity and authentication solutions, today announced the latest offering of the One Touch I.D. Software Development Kit (SDK), along with a new Best Practices guide for adding biometrics to applications and a special, limited-time promotional discount. This software package enables developers to easily embed high-performance fingerprint identification for adding "touch-and-go" authentication to their applications.

With the One Touch I.D. SDK, applications can leverage fingerprint biometrics to rapidly identify individuals without requiring users to remember usernames, ID numbers, PINs or swipe cards - providing greater differentiation for developers, as well as higher efficiency and satisfaction for customers. The SDK also helps applications combat "double-dipping" fraud by identifying people trying to hide behind multiple identities to inappropriately gain access to services, entitlements or employment. The adoption of biometrics is on the rise as fingerprint identification capabilities are being used to boost accountability and reduce fraud in commercial applications such as time and attendance, point-of-sale, approvals workflow, membership admittance, rewards systems, physical access control and presence verification.

"Fast fingerprint identification is crucial for applications that are using biometrics to provide accountability for each individual user," said Roger Grant, president of Human Element Biometrics. "The One Touch I.D. SDK dramatically increased the speed and accuracy of our PresencePoint(TM) scheduling and tracking application, allowing it to reliably identify individuals within half a second. The DigitalPersona software only took a day and a half to integrate and immediately enhanced the value we offer to our customers."

The new DigitalPersona One Touch I.D. SDK package helps developers incorporate fast fingerprint identification for "touch-and-go" authentication into a wide range of commercial applications. This capability can help organizations of all sizes cut costs and enhance security, issues which are particularly important in the retail, restaurant, healthcare, financial services, and state or local government sectors.

"In this economy, developers are looking for ways to make their applications stand out from the crowd," said Jim Fulton, vice president of marketing for DigitalPersona. "The One Touch I.D. SDK and our new Best Practices guide make it easier for developers to use high-performance fingerprint biometrics within their products to help customers save money, streamline operations and reduce fraud."

The latest release in DigitalPersona's line of embedded software, the One Touch I.D. SDK, is designed for use in commercial applications and can handle thousands of people. The One Touch I.D. SDK makes fast fingerprint identification easy to implement and offers benefits such as:

-- High accountability at the touch of a finger--enables rapid and accurate identification of users in less than a second.

-- Enhances security-- eliminates "double-dipping" fraud in real-time during enrollment or as an off-hours database scan.

-- Significantly reduces helpdesk costs and increases productivity--does away with the need to remember usernames, ID numbers, PINs or swipe cards.

-- Offers a fast, efficient application development--provides a .NET programming interface to address developer needs and allow for easier application development.

Pricing and Availability

The One Touch I.D. SDK runs on Microsoft Windows XP and Vista and is fully compatible with DigitalPersona's free One Touch for Windows SDK, which enables developers to quickly add fingerprint capabilities to their applications. The One Touch I.D. SDK does not require any runtime royalties and is priced at $600. DigitalPersona is offering a special, limited-time discount to help application developers take advantage of the software. Through September 30, 2009, developers may purchase the One Touch I.D. SDK online at www.digitalpersona.com/onetouchid for $99. The Best Practices guide can be downloaded from www.digitalpersona.com/appbestpractices.
