Designed to replace optical modules, Smart DAC (Direct Attach Cable) products provide means of connecting point-to-point in high-speed data transfer networks. High speed over copper data transfer solutions operate at up to 10 Gig data rate and come in active XFP to active XFP, active XFP to passive SFP+, and passive SFP+ to passive SFP+ configurations. Chicago, IL - dataMate Products, a division of Methode Electronics, Inc., has announced the introduction of its new Smart DAC-Direct Attach Cable product line as an on-going expansion of its line of high speed over copper data transfer solutions. The Smart DAC offers a quick, cost-effective means of connecting point-to-point in high-speed data transfer networks.
The Smart DAC replaces very costly optical modules with a significantly lower cost per connection point solution. The cost savings, estimated at up to 50% per connection, would save OEMs, integrators and end users hundreds of dollars per connection. The cables operate at up to a 10 Gig data rate. Standard product is available in active XFP to active XFP, active XFP to passive SFP+, and passive SFP+ to passive SFP+ configurations. Standard length cables of 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 meters are immediately available. Custom lengths or configurations to meet customer specific applications are also available from dataMate.
