Powerfully Slim TeraStation III Rackmount Delivers a Cost-Effective SMB Storage Solution in a New Space Saving Design

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 18 / / - Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, network and direct attached storage solutions today built on its fourth year of market leadership in the SMB NAS market by announcing the TeraStation III Rackmount, Buffalo's newest, most feature-rich SMB network storage solution in market to date. Delivering hot swap capabilities, higher capacities and unbeatable redundancy in a new slim, space saving 1U chassis, the TeraStation III Rackmount offers a high performance hardware platform in a cost-effective package.

Incorporating a new hardware platform shared by the previously announced TeraStation III and TeraStation Duo, the TeraStation III Rackmount features dependable backup, eco-conscious power management, as well as enhanced business and reliability features. Along with higher capacities, the new TeraStation devices allow businesses to transfer digital assets at faster rates to quickly and securely backup large amounts of data on multiple servers.

The TeraStation III Rackmount like the previously announced TeraStation Duo and TeraStation III include new, robust backup features such as replication, support for Mac's Time Machine and hot spare/hot swap for uninterrupted operation. Both devices continue to offer Buffalo's unique Web Access feature for remote access to all data stored on the devices via a web browser from anywhere in the world. For additional reliability, the new TeraStations include two Ethernet ports and internal flash boot. With a more eco-friendly approach to electronics, Buffalo's latest NAS devices offer unique power management features, which reduce power consumption by 66% while simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions. These power management features include a scheduled power management system with three timers, allowing for automatic shut down during non-business hours. They devices also include hard drive spin-down, which saves energy when drives are not in use.

To better function within the work environment, both the TeraStation III family include hot swappable drives for continued use even in the unlikely event of drive failure. The devices also include disk encryption for ultimate protection; a controlled fans with a thermal sensor for optimal cooling; NFS and Active Directory. Other features include cartridge-mounted HDD, print server functionality, RAID5, LCD status display.

Pricing and Availability

The TeraStation III Rackmount is backed by a limited three-year warranty that includes toll-free 24/7 technical support and will be available in late August at estimated street prices of $1,299.99 for the 2TB (TS-RX2.0TL/R5), $1,799.99 for the 4TB (TS-RX4.0TL/R5), $2,299.99 for the 6TB (TS-RX6.0TL/R5) and $2,999.99 for the 8TB (TS-RX8.0TL/R5).
