Heat Exchanger provides control of food-grade products.

August 19, 2009 - Featuring fully welded and totally sealed design, Dimple-t Heat Exchanger indirectly heats or cools free flowing powder and bulk solids, such as sugar or salt, while eliminating concern for dirt or contamination. With no plate supports and manifold pipe welded straight to heat exchanger plates, design eliminates ledges where food products can stay behind. Heat exchanger has no moving parts and does not require fans or large volumes of air to operate.

Dimple-t Bulk Solids Coolers Introduces its New Manifold Technology for Heating or Cooling a Variety of Food Products

WINTERSWIJK, Netherlands -Dimple-t Bulk Solids Coolers, introduced its fully welded and thus totally sealed Dimple-t Heat Exchanger to the food industry that eliminates any concern for dirt or contamination and provides better control of food grade products.

This new design eliminates problem area's that current all competing Heat Exchangers (Bulk Flow type) have being; horizontal pipe connections welded on each plate, plate supports below the Heat Exchanger and plate spacers. On all of these area's Food Products can stay behind. Food Products staying behind in a Heat Exchanger is of course an unwanted solution.

Dimple-t has found a solution for this by welding the manifold pipe straight to the Heat Exchanger Plates. A triangle on the manifold completes the design. Plate supports have been eliminated and plate spacers reduced to the minimum because of the rugged construction. As are result there are absolutely no ledges were products can stay behind.

The Dimple-t Heat Exchanger indirectly heats or cools free flowing powder and bulk solids such as sugar or salt. It combines zero air emission, lower energy consumption and lower capital cost with exceptional results. This is because, unlike many other types of bulk solids coolers, the Dimple-t system does not require fans or large volumes of air to operate and lets gravity do the work to greatly reduce power consumption.

The system's static design with no moving parts also assures gentle product handling. Its safe, compact and reliable design makes it easy to integrate with existing equipment, resulting in low installation, maintenance and capital costs. Each application is tailored to meet individual food manufacturing requirements and is easy to integrate with existing equipment.

According to Dimple-t, the high efficiency of the system offers numerous benefits over traditional fluid bed or rotary drum cooling methods and makes the technology "environmentally friendly."

Food industry applications include salt and sugar leaving a drying operation. In the sugar industry, it can also be installed as a primary or secondary cooler. Both sugar and salt applications are readily adaptable to plant retrofits.

Other applications in the food industry include heating or cooling starch, dextrose, rice, vitamins, cocoa products, corn flour, corn meal or corn germ, coffee, oats, pet and animal food, soybeans, oilseed and wheat.

THE DIMPLE-T PROCESS

The Dimple-t Heat Exchanger, the most sophisticated combination of the two sciences of indirect heat transfer and the mass flow of bulk solids, is designed for indirect heating or cooling of free flowing powders and bulk solids of granular, prilled or crystal shape.

A unique piece of equipment, The Dimple-t Heat Exchanger consists of a series of several closely spaced hollow, fully welded heat exchanger plates. The food product moves slowly by gravity between the plates in mass flow. Cooling or heating media circulates internally between the plate dimple and counter-current to product flow for higher thermal efficiency. A mass flow discharge (cone, vibratory feeder or screw feeder) controls the product flow rate and regulates throughput.

Other benefits of the technology include modular construction for easy expansion and a compact design that fits into tight spaces. The gentle improved product flow prevents product attrition, the potential for caking in storage and improved packaging.

Outside of the food industry, applications include chemicals, fertilizers, polymers, detergents, catalysts, minerals, oilseeds and bio-solids.
