Agilent Technologies' New Power Meters, Enhanced Power Sensors Improve on Popular Older Models

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced two new power meters and seven new additions to its N8480 Series power sensors. Compared with legacy devices, the new models offer better accuracy and greater capability while retaining similar pricing.
The Agilent N1913A and N1914A EPM Series power meters are versatile, and user-friendly, and are replacements for the popular Agilent E4418B/19B EPM Series. The N1913A and N1914A offer average and pulse power measurements on one, two or four channels. Frequency coverage spans 9 kHz to 110 GHz and single-sensor dynamic range is 50 to 90 dB, depending on the model. One major improvement is measurement speed of 400-readings/second, twice that of the previous model. Usability enhancements include a color LCD readout; GPIB, USB and LAN/LXI-C connectivity; and one-button checking of battery level.

The N8480 Series thermocouple-based power sensors are updated versions of the widely used Agilent 848x family of power sensors, offering better accuracy and automatic loading of calibration factors from sensor EEPROM into power meter memory. Agilent's N8480 Series offers best-in-class linearity (< 1 percent), wide frequency range (100 kHz to 50 GHz, model dependent) and broad power range (-35 dBm to +44 dBm, model dependent). For automated testing, the standard N8480 configuration is fully compatible with E-Series sensor SCPI commands while Option CFT adds full SCPI compatibility with legacy 848x Series sensors.

"The N8480 Series continues to be the performance leader for applications in communications, electronics manufacturing, aerospace and automotive electronics," said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Basic Instruments Division. "Those same customers can enjoy new levels of capability, convenience and connectivity from the N1913A and N1914A EPM Series power meters."

Through Feb. 28, 2010, trade-in offers are available for both new product lines. Customers can trade in a 435B, 436A, 437B, 438A or 899x power meter and receive a 20-percent discount on the purchase of an N1913A or N1914A, or any other Agilent EPM/EPM-P Series or Agilent P-Series power meter. They can also trade in any functional 848x power sensor and receive a 30-percent discount on the purchase of a new N848x power sensor. Detailed information is available at www.agilent.com/find/powermete....
The legacy E4418B/19B EPM Series is available until Nov. 1, 2010. The legacy 8487A, 8481B/H, 8482B/H, R8486A and R8486Q are available until Sept. 1, 2009.

U.S. Pricing and Availability

The Agilent N1913A and N1914A are priced at $3,888 and $6,292, respectively, and are available now worldwide.

Prices for the Agilent N8480A Series range from $1,250 to $4,600. All models are available now worldwide and can be ordered online at www.agilent.com/find/OnlineStore.
