Data Dilemma Solved: Matrox Radient eCL Frame Grabber with Altera® Processing FPGA Packs High-Performance in Half-Length Card

August 4, 2009, Montreal, Canada -Matrox Imaging is pleased to announce the Matrox Radient eCL, the newest high-performance Camera Link® frame grabber with an Altera® Stratix®III processing FPGA.

Matrox Radient eCL is the single-board solution for applications that require today's highest-performing Camera Link® cameras. The x8 PCIe® card ensures that the data from the highest-throughput 10-tap, 85-MHz cameras is transferred to the host CPUs. Its half-length form factor ensures an excellent fit in compact systems. Optimized for multi-camera applications, Matrox Radient eCL supports for up to four Base or two Full mode Camera Link® cameras.

Electronics manufacturing and inspection, semiconductor wafer manufacturing, and medical imaging are a few examples of applications that generate volumes of data to process. Standard image processing tasks such as filtering, transforms, flat field correction and dead pixel replacement can overwhelm even the most capable CPUs. For these applications, on-board FPGA processing provides an elegant solution to offload processing while keeping the CPU free for other tasks.

The Altera® Stratix®III processing FPGA delivers processing performance that was unattainable with previous generations, and customization has never been easier and more cost-effective. With Matrox Imaging's FPGA-design services, OEMs can benefit from FPGA-based processing without the high costs of specialized staff and FPGA development tools.

Matrox Radient supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows® XP/Vista and Linux, and is programmed with the field-proven, hardware-independent Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) or MIL-Lite development toolkits.

Pricing for Matrox Radient starts at $2595 US (OEM quantity 1) and is available now.
