High-Power Fiber Lasers output up to 750 or 1,000 W.

August 7, 2009 - FL Series can be used to weld small parts with low thermal distortion and minimal heat affected zones. Beam quality can be coupled with fiber optics 50-600 µm in diameter, equivalent to beam quality of 2.5-30 mm x mrad. Additionally, model FL 010 S offers option of fiber laser solution with single mode beam quality of 0.4 mm x mrad (typ) and 1,000 W output power. Optional beam switch and energy share modules enable one laser to be used in up to 4 individual work cells.

Rofin Introduce New Series of High Power Fibre Lasers

With the recent launch of a new series of high powered fibre lasers, Rofin further consolidates the company's ability to offer the most complete range of lasers and laser systems. The new FL Series offers two models; the FL x75 and FL 010 with output powers of 750 and 1,000 Watts respectively.

The excellent beam quality from this new series of lasers can be coupled with fibre optics of between 50µm and 600µm in diameter, equivalent to beam quality of 2.5 to 30 mm x mrad. In addition the Rofin FL 010 S offers the option of a fibre laser solution with single mode beam quality of typically 0.4 mm x mrad and 1,000 Watt output power.

Flexible Performance and Multi-Cell Capability
The Rofin FL Series lasers provide the optimum solution to a wide range of applications. Small parts can be welded with low thermal distortion and minimal heat affected zones and steel or aluminium can be joined with welding depths of several millimetres. The excellent beam quality allows the efficient use of "dynamic beam" scanner systems enabling 2D and 3D geometries to be processed.

The optional beam switch and energy share modules make it possible for a single laser to be used in up to four individual work cells providing maximum utilization of the beam source. These features support improved cycle times and productivity whilst minimising the initial capital equipment costs. FL Series lasers are designed to be easily integrated to new or existing production work-cells. Based upon 30 years of experience within the industrial laser world the new Rofin FL Series lasers are designed for low-maintenance operation and long-term performance. Unlike the traditional concept where the laser beam moves repeatedly between the air and the laser active medium, the beam of a fibre laser does not leave the fibre optics before reaching the processing optics (single mode) or the beam switch (multi mode). This "all-in-glass" technology reduces the risk of optical contamination and eliminates changes in beam quality. In terms of laser technology, fibre lasers are considered to have enormous potential for future development. In addition to Rofin's highly successful CO2, Slab and solid-state lasers the introduction of the FL Series will further support the diverse requirements of customers involved in high power material processing applications.

The new FL-Series lasers will be on show at the LASER fair in Munich from 15th to 18th June 2009. Visitors can locate the Rofin booth in hall C2, stand 359.
