Panda Security Announces New Releases of Network Perimeter Protection Appliances for SMBs
-Panda GateDefender Integra and GateDefender Performa provide proactive corporate network protection against all Internet-borne threats -New GateDefender products require little to no maintenance
GLENDALE, Calif., July 28 -- Panda Security, the Cloud Security Company, today announced the availability of its 2010 line of unified threat management (UTM) appliances, Panda GateDefender Integra, and Panda GateDefender Performa. Both products offer proactive perimeter security that requires little to no maintenence from small- and medium-size businesses (SMBs).
Panda GateDefender Integra and GateDefender Performa benefit from Panda Security's proprietary Collective Intelligence technology that detects and analyzes threats automatically, resulting in greater speed and better protection against Internet threats. Thanks to Collective Ingelligence, the appliances obtain regular digital signature file updates from the cloud every 90 minutes to track new malware and support the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and Web Filter. Anti-spam fingerprinting is updated via Collective Intelligence every minute.

The new Panda GateDefender Performa is a scalable, load-balancing perimeter security device with improved anti-spam capabilities based on enhanced functionality that protects against new threats such as backscatter (a side-effect of spam), viruses and worms, where email servers send bounce messages to end users. It blocks all types of malware, spam, undesirable content and other Internet threats before they enter an organization's network. The malware detection ratio is improved in the new GateDefender Performa due to incremental PavSig, which only downloads malware signature patches instead of the complete files. Additionally, local update mode enables malware signature downloads from the Panda Server without an internet connection.
In addition to offering the latest firewall and IPS, VPN, anti-malware, content filter and anti-spam solutions, the new 2010 line of GateDefender appliances offers the following upgrades:
-- Increased anti-spam capabilities: New functionality improves the detection ratio and protects against newest threats such as backscatter. Micro updates occur every 3 hours and delta micro updates occur every minute.

-- Increased Productivity: IT managers can optimize bandwidth use by blocking unproductive Internet traffic (on average 70 percent of all traffic) before it enters the network; decreasing spam; and restricting use of P2P and IM applications
