Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder suits MRI and NMR applications.

July 27, 2009 - Featuring passive optical design and non-metallic construction, Model MR318 provides feedback in motion control systems operating in extreme electromagnetic fields. Multi-turn encoder system offers 360 ppr resolution and measures both angular position and shaft speed. Through multimode fiber optic link, encoder connects to MR310 Remote Encoder Interface module, which operates from 15-32 Vdc and offers A/B quadrature outputs, programmable analog outputs, and RS422/RS485 serial interface.

MR318 Fiber Optic Rotary Encoder for MRI and NMR Applications

Newbury Park, California, July 22, 2009 -- Micronor's MR318 fiber optic rotary encoder is designed specifically for use as feedback in motion control systems operating in extreme electromagnetic fields. The sensor's passive optical design and non-metallic construction has no affect on MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) or NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) system operation or measurements. The multiturn encoder system offers 360ppr (1°) resolution and measures both angular position and shaft speed. MRI-related applications include feedback for actuator or motor control, monitoring patient position or correlating foot pedal position for fMRI diagnostics.

The MR318 rotary sensor uses an industry-standard Size 58mm synchro housing and is installed just like a standard encoder. The sensor then optically connects to the MR310 module via a multimode fiber optic link. The module operates from 15-32 VDC and offers a range of standard interface options, including: A/B quadrature outputs (push-pull and line driver), programmable analog outputs (4-20mA and ±10V) and RS422/RS485 serial interface.

Unit price for either MR318 encoder or MR310 module is $1995 in small quantities - with OEM and educational discounts available. Lead time is 2 weeks ARO.
