Storage System provides sample integrity for life sciences.
July 27, 2009 -
Offering cold storage for compounds and biological samples, -20°C Sample Access Manager ensures sample integrity by maintaining storage environment at user-determined levels, between +20 and -40°C. Automated system offers sample format flexibility, cherry-picking, and sample tracking software, which provides audit trail and chain of custody documentation. Able to handle microplates or variety of tube sizes, system is suited for storage of nucleic acids, tissues, proteins, and compounds.
New -20°C Storage System Provides Affordable Sample Integrity for Genomics and Life Science Applications
Hopkinton, Mass.-April. 21, 2009-Hamilton Storage Technologies introduces the automated -20°C Sample Access Manager (SAM) - an affordable cold storage system for compounds and biological samples. The new -20°C SAM ensures sample integrity by maintaining a precise storage environment at user-determined levels, between +20°C and -40°C. Based on the technology behind Hamilton's -80°C storage system, the -20°C SAM is a lower throughput, automated system that offers sample format flexibility, cherry-picking, sample tracking and easy-to-use software all within a compact footprint. The system's sample tracking software provides an audit trail and complete chain of custody documentation for regulated environments.
The -20°C SAM's internal robotics are driven by Hamilton's patented external magnetic couplers, to ensure consistent storage temperature and prevent sample degradation. The system can handle microplates or a variety of tube sizes and is ideal for the storage of nucleic acids, tissues, proteins and compounds.
"The launch of the -20°C SAM demonstrates our commitment to constantly improving our products to meet the needs of our customers," said Radi Hofstetter, CEO of Hamilton Storage Technologies. "This latest technology allows customers to implement a lower cost solution for automated sample management in their laboratories."
