Elemental Announces Next Generation CUDA GPU-Accelerated Video Encoding Plug-In for Creative Professionals

Elemental(TM) Accelerator Breaks the Video Processing Bottleneck Using NVIDIA(R) Quadro(R) GPUs; More Video Editors Than Ever Can Use the Product Thanks to Expanded NVIDIA Quadro Lineup, Mac Version

PORTLAND, Ore., June 29 /-- Elemental Technologies, the leading provider of massively parallel video processing solutions, today announced the availability of Elemental Accelerator 2.0, the next generation of its groundbreaking CUDA GPU-accelerated video processing tool for creative professionals. In addition to a new release for the Windows platform, Elemental also today announced the first version of Elemental Accelerator for Mac OS X users. Elemental Accelerator offers radically faster video processing and H.264 encoding of common video formats to Blu-ray or web-ready output files, letting creative professionals spend more time producing great videos and less time watching progress bars.

Elemental Accelerator is a plug-in for Adobe(R) Premiere(R) Pro CS4 that harnesses massively parallel graphics processors from NVIDIA to dramatically speed video decoding, processing and encoding as compared to CPU-only solutions. Elemental Accelerator is easy to access through the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 application interface, and integrates seamlessly with existing workflows.

"Too often, videographers, video editors and filmmakers have to spend their time waiting for their computer to process video files. Elemental Accelerator lets these creative professionals spend more time bringing their vision to life," said Sam Blackman, CEO and chairman of Elemental. "By leveraging the power of massively parallel GPUs and introducing accelerated decode and image processing to the encoding pipeline, Elemental Accelerator can bring a 2x to 11x performance boost to common video processing tasks in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4."

"Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 users are always striving to push the boundaries of video storytelling and showcase their content in new and compelling ways," said Dave Helmly, North American DMO Technical Sales Manager at Adobe Systems, Incorporated. "We are pleased that Elemental Accelerator, a product that can help creative professionals get even more work done faster, is part of the Premiere Pro CS4 ecosystem."

Elemental and NVIDIA have made Elemental Accelerator available to a wider group of creative professionals than ever before by developing a version of Elemental Accelerator for Mac users and by expanding the range of NVIDIA Quadro GPUs compatible with Elemental Accelerator on Windows platforms.

"NVIDIA and Elemental have worked hard to make GPU-accelerated video processing available to as many video professionals as possible," said Jeff Brown, general manager, Professional Solutions, NVIDIA. "We are excited that creative professionals using Windows workstations and Mac Pro platforms will now be able to benefit from the power of Elemental Accelerator on a wide selection of NVIDIA Quadro Solutions."

Elemental Accelerator 2.0 on the Windows platform is compatible with a wide range of NVIDIA Quadro FX GPUs, including those designed for high-end (Quadro FX 4800 and FX 5800) and mid-range (Quadro FX 1800 and Quadro FX 3800) desktops, as well as for mobile workstations. Elemental Accelerator's compatibility with NVIDIA's Quadro FX 3700M and Quadro FX 2700M mobile workstation platforms is particularly exciting news for event videographers and other on-the-go video producers, who will finally be able to edit and output video on location instead of waiting to get back to the office. Elemental Accelerator is available bundled with supported Quadro FX GPUs or as a standalone purchase for $499 through NVIDIA distribution channels and on NVIDIA's Plug-in solutions page (www.nvidia.com/adobeplugins)

Elemental Accelerator for Mac is available exclusively with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for Mac graphics card through NVIDIA distribution channels. It offers the same easy Adobe Premiere integration as Elemental Accelerator 2.0 for Windows, while offering significant performance improvements and time savings over CPU-only encoding solutions. The Quadro FX 4800 for Mac will run on select Mac Pro platforms, and is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later.
