MINNEAPOLIS - The new Daikin McQuay Pathfinder(TM) air-cooled chiller, the first in the Daikin McQuay brand family of products, has been designed to exceed HVAC industry standards for operating efficiency and low sound levels, providing optimum operating costs and comfort throughout the life of the chiller. The chiller's quiet operation makes it ideal for sound-sensitive environments such as schools, churches and other facilities located in residential neighborhoods. Unit capacities range from 175 to 515 tons in both 50 and 60 Hz.
With three levels of operating efficiency-standard, high and premium-the Daikin McQuay Pathfinder chiller allows building owners to specify an HVAC system that exactly meets their requirements. The standard efficiency model meets ASHRAE 90.1 requirements, while the premium model has best-in-class efficiency, according to McQuay. The unit's compressor controls use precise control logic for optimum operating efficiencies at both full and part load.
Designed with low-speed fans with patented blade profile and a unique, single-rotor compressor to minimize mechanical vibration, the chiller's sound pressure level is rated as low as 67 dBA at a distance of 30 ft per ARI Standard 370, which is a 6 dBA reduction compared to previous models. Ideal for retrofit projects, the chiller's small unit footprint allows the maximum condenser heat transfer per foot of unit length. Key components are located on the unit's periphery, allowing easy access to the most commonly serviced components.
All Pathfinder chillers installed in North America are Daikin Remote Service capable. After this service is enabled, McQuay Factory Service can support the chillers remotely to keep them running efficiently and reliably. McQuay technicians can review the current chiller operation, diagnose operational issues and reset alarms/settings for proactive troubleshooting and responsiveness.
Environmental responsibility
The Pathfinder chiller continues the Daikin and McQuay legacy of environmental responsibility by operating with R-134a refrigerant, which has no ozone depletion potential and no phase-out schedule. The chiller helps owners qualify for LEED® Green Building Rating System certification through optimizing efficiency and refrigerant management.
