New Rugged Portable Platform, Comrade, with High Resolution Display and High Performance Capability
AZUSA, Calif. (July 1, 2009) - Acme Portable Machines, Inc., a leading provider of rugged portable computers and Industrial LCD keyboard drawers, today announced the immediate availability of their latest rugged portable platform that fits "everybody's" applications, the Comrade series. The new Comrade is a robust lunchbox style portable computer platform equipped with everything needed for the road and in the lab. Integrated with a 17" wide screen LCD, dual Quad Core processors, fast DDR2 RAM, generous drive bay spaces and expansion slots, the Comrade is the new platform for your critical applications. These include military and field operations, field service and diagnostic applications, forensic, telecommunications and more.
Built with heavy duty aluminum for rough-and-tumble situations, the Comrade platform can be many different solutions pending your installed hardware and/or software. The Comrade 300 comes with 7 open expansion slots. The available multiple PCI-e and PCI slots allow the installation of any high-speed, full-length and double-deck add-on cards. These add-on cards can be diagnostic cards for testing applications, data acquisition cards for sampling data in the field, and audio and video editing of large files on filming locations among many other configurations dependent on the user's requirements. Every add-on card is firmly secured with a proprietary card hold-down plate with ease of access for upgrade, maintenance or reconfiguration.
The Comrade 400 and 500 provide the user two 5.25" shock mounted open drive bays while the Operating System is installed on an internal shock mounted 2.5" disk. A slot-loading DVD-RW is also included for additional media storage. The optional 1920x1200 high resolution LCD display comes standard with a protected antiglare tempered glass or an optional touch screen for ease of use. For special sunlight readable display, a transflective LCD display is available at an additional price.
