Lineage Power Ruggedizes TLynx Family of Non-Isolated Converters

Point-of-Load DC/DC converters address increased temperature (105°C), shock and vibration (50 Grms) requirements for military, aerospace, industrial and automotive applications

DALLAS (June 23, 2009) - Lineage Power Corporation, the industry's most experienced provider of intelligent power conversion systems, today announced it has added ruggedized models to its entire line of TLynx(TM) DC/DC non-isolated, point-of-load (POL) converters ranging from 3 amps (A) to 20A. These ruggedized versions conform to military standard MIL STD 810F and operate between -40 and +105 degrees Celsius (°C) and up to 50 g-forces (Grms) with virtually no derating-perfect for military, aerospace industrial and automotive applications. Most equipment manufacturers apply secondary design processes to their devices to sustain high vibration, but manufacturers have no ability to extend the temperature range. These ruggedized versions address both needs head on.

The TLynx DC/DC converter family includes the PicoTLynx(TM), MicroTLynx(TM), and TLynx(TM) POL converters for distributed power systems. TLynx converters offer a small form factor, higher current density, excellent thermal performance, and low ripple. In addition, the product family is very cost effective and delivers additional system-level, cost-reducing elements such as Lineage Power's Tunable Loop(TM) technology.

The Tunable Loop feature delivers leading density at the lowest cost implementation leveraging standards-based Distributed-Power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) footprints. Tunable Loop functionality allows design engineers to optimize the dynamic response of a POL power solution to match load requirements-reducing the quantity, type, and size of the capacitors required for any given application. The result is up to 70% capacitor space reduction at 50% lower cost.

PicoTLynx DC/DC converters are 3A, 4A and 6A in a 12.2mm x 12.2mm footprint, smaller than a dime. The 6A product derates to 3A at 105°C and natural convection-no airflow-at 12V in and 1.2V out. This performance, under such extreme conditions, is unmatched in the industry. MicroTLynx 12A converters measure just 11.4mm x 20.3mm, and the TLynx converters are 20A measuring 13.5mm x 33mm. All models are packaged in a standard DOSA footprint and conform to military standard MIL STD 810F.

Lineage Power is the POL market leader with more than 30 million units shipped and proven field reliability with mean time between failure (MTBF) of up to 3 billion hours. Lineage POL power converters assure product reliability, reduce risk and accelerate time to market with solutions that are small, fast and powerful.

Pricing and Availability

Available immediately, pricing for the ruggedized converters starts at $6.42 for OEM quantities of 10,000 for the 6A PicoTLynx model. Other models are available. For the ruggedized version, customers should request the "D" model.
