PicoTLynx(TM) 4 A DC/DC converter is non-isolated, point-of-load unit with input voltage range from 8-16 V and 10 sec surge capability of up to 18 V. Output voltage range is 0.59-8 V. Unit provides full 4 A load at 8 Vout up to 85°C and is also 96.1% efficient at 8 Vout. Tunable Loop feature allows engineers to optimize dynamic response to match load requirements. Measuring 12.2 mm square, it is also available in ruggedized D model, which has greater temperature and vibration resistance.

DALLAS (June 23, 2009) - Lineage Power Corporation, the industry's most experienced provider of intelligent power conversion systems, today announced its newest member of the PicoTLynx(TM) DC/DC converter family, a 4-amp (A), wide-input-range model. The high-efficiency, non-isolated, point-of-load (POL) converter is designed to extend the operating input and output voltage ranges of the PicoTLynx product to accommodate industrial applications. Lineage POL power converters assure product reliability, reduce risk and accelerate time to market with solutions that are small, fast and powerful.
The input voltage range is extended to 8-16 volts (V) in with a 10 second surge capability of up to 18V in. The output voltage range is also extended to 0.59-8V out. This converter is highly efficient with full current capability across the entire operating range. The 4A PicoTLynx provides a full 4A load at 8V out up to 85 degrees Celsius (C) and natural convection conditions with no airflow. This thermal and operating efficiency is unmatched in the industry. In addition, the POL converter is highly efficient resulting in 96.1 percent efficiency at 8V out. A ruggedized version of the product for performance at higher temperature and vibration is also available.
The PicoTLynx POL converter is ideal for distributed power systems and is part of the TLynx(TM) converter product line which offers a small form factor, higher current density, excellent thermal performance, and low ripple. In addition, the product family is very cost effective and delivers additional system-level, cost-reducing elements such as Lineage Power's Tunable Loop(TM) feature.
The Tunable Loop feature delivers leading density at the lowest cost implementation, leveraging standards-based Distributed-Power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) footprints. Tunable Loop functionality allows design engineers to optimize the dynamic response of a POL power solution to match load requirements-reducing the quantity, type, and size of the capacitors required for any given application. The result is up to 70% capacitor space reduction at 50% lower cost.
PicoTLynx family of DC/DC converters are 3A, 4A and 6A in a 12.2mm x 12.2mm footprint, smaller than a dime. All models are packaged in a standard DOSA footprint. Lineage power is the POL market leader with more than 30 million units shipped and proven field reliability with mean time between failure (MTBF) of up to 3 billion hours.

Available immediately, pricing for the PicoTLynx wide-range 4A model starts at $5.55 for OEM quantities of 10,000. For the ruggedized version, customers should request the "D" model.
