Bend Insensitive Fiber Optic Trunk Cables with HLC® SCRATCHGUARD(TM) Technology

Incorporation of Bend Insensitive fiber is latest offering for Data Centers, CATV Headends and Private Networks

Austin, Texas, June 9, 2009 - Megladon Manufacturing Group achieved its quest today by announcing a Fiber Optic Bend Insensitive HLC trunk cable for Data Centers, CATV Headends and Private Networks. This completes the overall package and allows Megladon's customers to deploy SM Bend Insensitive fiber with HLC SCRATCHGUARD in all premise assemblies, patch panel pigtails and trunk cables.

Managing and routing the fiber optic cables in any datacenter or communications room is a big problem. The fiber is subject to bend loss anytime it is placed in an overhead tray, routed in the rack or coiled into a service loop. The result can be meters of fiber that must be strategically placed without significant bending.

Utilizing bend insensitive fiber is the answer the industry has been seeking for two primary reasons. First, the installation time is reduced which has an associated cost savings. The time savings is due to a more straight forward process and ease of certification. Second, the prevention of intermittent failures due to bend loss reduces the number of technician trips to the site and plays a key role in customer satisfaction and retention.

"We can now minimize interconnect loss and bend loss utilizing bend insensitive fiber and our HLC technology in many areas of the network", stated John M Culbert, President of Megladon. "Our customers can receive the maximum benefit by deploying bend insensitive premise cables, trunk cables and pigtails. It saves money and makes sense."

Megladon's Bend Insensitive trunk cables with HLC SCRATCHGUARD technology promote durability and performance and utilize Draka's (www.drakaamericas.com) Bend Insensitive fiber in both the 10X and 100X versions. The cables can be configured in loose tube or tight buffered designs with various fiber counts, lengths and are supported with all standard fiber optic connectors including the SCAPC HLC. They are affordably priced with numerous deployments already completed.

Megladon Manufacturing Group Ltd., a subsidiary of TyRex Group Ltd.®, is recognized as a leader in the fiber optic marketplace. Founded in 1997, Megladon made it their mission to provide customers with fiber optic products that far exceed industry standards. As technology innovators, Megladon created the HLC® (Hardened Lens Contact) termination, which has changed the market and taken it to the next level.
