Acme Portable Launches Newly Designed Adamant Portable Platform at Taiwan Computex 2009 Show

Azusa, CA - June 2, 2009 - Acme Portable, the world renown manufacturer of high-quality, high performance, fully rugged portable platforms and Industrial LCD keyboard drawers, announces a brand new ground-up design of Portable Platform at today's Computex 2009 show in Taipei. A smaller, compact and highly integrated Adamant 5100 platform is ideal for Acme Portable customers looking for a newer form factor and intended for portable network analyzer, VoIP tester, data acquisitions, portable video production & editing, CAD and EDA, and more.

The Adamant 5100 is made out of all aerospace grade aluminum housing, scratch proofed paint and added corner bumpers to meet the toughest environment where the product will be used. As market demand increases for a higher performance platform, the Adamant 5100 comes with dual low power Intel Xeon L5410 quad-core processors and double data rate of system memory up to 48GB.

"The use of low power processors from Intel together with Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology allows Adamant to meet the greener computing solutions while delivering an unprecedented performance on a compact portable platform", said Acme Portable CTO Tai Wang.

In addition, the Intel long-life Xeon L5410 processor allows Acme customers to keep longer product life cycle without investing a lot of retesting costs. To support various product applications, the Adamant 5100 offers two different passive backplanes which can support either (1) 3x full 64-bit PCI-X slots up to 133Mhz and 1x full length PCI-e x8 slot or (2) 4x full length PCI-e x8 slots. For customers who need a special graphic and storage controller card, the Adamant has one additional PCI-e x16 slot which can be factory installed without taking away the four user accessible slots. To complement the rich features of the product, the Adamant 5100 is equipped with a 17" wide 16:10 LCD display with resolutions up to 1920x1200 and plenty of storage spaces. The standard configuration of Adamant 5100 has two removable storage bays plus two more internal storage media (hard disk or silicon storage drive).

In addition, it has a built-in DVD-RW drive while allows the user to use the optical media for additional storage. For mission critical applications, the Adamant comes with a build-in RAID controller which supports 0/1/5/10 arrays.

"The combination of high performance processors, ample of storage bays and a true high-definition display make Adamant suitable for portable diagnostic tools, portable video production & editing, CAD and EDA, and more" said Marketing VP Martin Yen.

Other key features of Adamant 5100 include tilting feet for better viewing angles. The option of either resistive or capacitive touch screen makes Adamant 5100 the most user friendly portable in its class. For customers who prefer the traditional keyboard and mouse, Acme offers the optional wireless keyboard and mouse. For high speed connectivity, the standard Adamant comes with two Gigabit Ethernet ports and four USB 2.0 ports. Like any other Acme portable platforms, the Adamant 5100 is designed to meet MIL-STD 810F for harsh environment applications, including military use.

Acme recognizes the importance of having various portable platforms to meet different industries and applications. The Adamant is a great complement to the existing Acme Portable line-up which includes Comrade, Tenuis and Seahawk product families.
