Displacement Sensors withstand demanding environments.

June 11, 2009 - Available with environmental ratings up to IP68 and pressures of 100 bar, SR series features stainless steel bodies and can be supplied with mineral insulated cable for optimal chemical resistance. Each absolute linear position sensor, also offered with high-temperature options, has modular construction that allows guided or free core versions to be specified. DC/DC and 4-20 mA versions use on-board signal conditioning, while screw mount options facilitate installation.

Rugged Displacement Sensors Launched by Solartron

An extensive range of displacement transducers for use in demanding environments has been introduced by Solartron Metrology. Based on the company's popular S range, the new SR series is available with environmental ratings up to IP68 and pressures of 100 bar.

All models have stainless steel bodies and can be supplied with mineral insulated cable for a high level of chemical resistance. High temperature options are also available.

The absolute linear position sensors were developed to meet customer demand for rugged sensors to operate in harsh conditions such as encountered in process control, hydraulics, laboratory, transport and offshore applications.

DC/DC and 4-20mA versions use proven on-board signal conditioning developed for the S series, as well as offering extra screening against electrical interference.

Their modular construction allows guided or free core versions to be specified, and screw mount options enable easier installation where conventional mounting clamps could be a problem.

Stock is available with short lead times as a result of Solartron's extensive investments in manufacturing plant, tooling and calibration systems at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in West Sussex.

Solartron Metrology is a world leader in the design and manufacture of precision dimensional measurement and position measurement transducers and instrumentation. Based in West Sussex, where it has a 4000 m2 manufacturing facility, the company exports over 90 per cent of its production worldwide.

Solartron Metrology's parent company is AMETEK, a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of more than $2.5 billion.
