LDO Voltage Regulator is well-protected against transients.
June 4, 2009 -
Supporting 1.7-5.5 V input range, Series S-1137 offers output voltages in 0.05 V steps from 1.2-3.5 V with accuracy of ±1.0%. Soft-Start function, settable by one external capacitor, eliminates dangerous inrush current of ~400 mA and reduces it to 20 mA. High ripple rejection ratio of 70 dB typ @ 1 kHz and VOUT of 1.0 V further ensure suppression of noticeable input voltage transients. Also, low drop out voltage of 210 mV is given at output current of 300 mA and VOUT of 2.8 V.
LDO-Voltage-Regulator-Series S-1137 with Soft-Start
NEU-ISENBURG, Germany, June 2 -- Prominent property of this new Series of CMOS voltage regulator is a Soft-Start function settable by one external capacitor. This will eliminate dangerous inrush current of approximately 400mA and reduce it to uncritical 20mA. The High-Ripple-Rejection-Ratio of 70dB typ. at 1KHz and VOUT= 1,0V is further insuring that noticeable input voltage transients, as they occur with the fluctuation of neighbouring loads, will be suppressed.
Another special feature is the availability of an optional output shunt that will effectuate a fast discharge of output voltage that might be stored on external Capacitors when the regulator is switched off using the ON/OFF control input. Switching the regulator off has another advantage in the extension of battery life time.
A built-in overcurrent protection circuit avoids damage of the output transistor by limiting the output current.
Low-Drop-Out voltage of 210mV is given at an output current of 300mA and
VOUT: 2.8V
The regulators current requirement for this condition is 45microA typ. and 65microA max. , in shutdown mode this reduces to 0.1microA typ. and 1.0microA max.
Packages may be chosen from SOT-89-5, SOT23-5 and SNT-6A(H), they permit a dense layout.
Capacitors with low equivalent series resistance (ESR) e.g. the very common ceramic capacitors can be used for phase compensation.
Input voltage range is 1.7V to 5.5V. Output voltages are offered in 0.05V steps from 1.2V to 3.5V with an accuracy of +/-1.0%. Below 1.45V an accuracy of +/-15mV is achievable.
Applications: Battery operated power supplies for cellular phone and portable devices, digital-cameras, TV-sets and DVD recorder
