Innovative Metal Look-Alike Alternative Enables Appliance and Electronic Manufacturers to Achieve Dazzling Color and Visual Texture Impact While Reducing Carbon Footprint to Meet Sustainability Objectives

Masterbatch colorants lead the way in changing manufacturing practices-saving time, cost and natural resources

Tarrytown, NY: In an effort to meet a critical market demand for cost reductions and a more sustainable, reduced carbon footprint in the appliance and electronics manufacturing operations, Ampacet Corporation has introduced metal look-alike masterbatch colorants that achieve the prestige look of traditional chrome and aluminum without the use of secondary treatments or the costs of secondary processes associated with the use of metal materials or paint spraying.

Ampacet's FormulaX LiquidMetals Color(TM) masterbatch formulation is supplied as a pelletized masterbatch colorant for use with polypropylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, ABS, PET and Nylon. The masterbatch is simply added into the extruder or injection molder along with a base resin to create uniformly colored parts with a metal look.

With no hazardous secondary dipping, spraying or coating required to achieve a brushed aluminum or chrome effect, the manufacturer is able to eliminate excess material handling and transportation of the parts between operations. Additional costs are saved through the elimination of repetitive part handling and manufacturing time delays inherent within a multi-step process.

Unlike finished metal parts, which may easily dent and scratch; the molded plastic bodies and housings made with FormulaX LiquidMetals metal-effect masterbatch colorants incorporate the metal look-alike effect throughout the part.

FormulaX LiquidMetals masterbatches eliminate the use of chemicals for secondary processing, reduce overall product weight to reduce the cost of transporting finished goods to market, and minimize waste by eliminating product damage caused in handling.

Ampacet offers Brushed Brilliance(TM) LiquidMetals masterbatches in jewel tones that elevate brand appeal and in polished aluminum and chrome to achieve a classic metal look.
