Housed in 3U 19 in. rackmount enclosure, Expansion Platform adds up to 4 PCIe and 3 PCI-X add-in boards to servers with limited slot counts. Using Gen 2 host system, unit operates at Gen 2 speeds or 5 Gb/s per lane. Since platform accommodates either x4 or x8 cable connectors, it can operate from 10-40 Gb/s. System includes host adapter and 1 m cable, 300 W power supply, two 5¼ in. drive bays, and one 3½ in. drive bay, as well as 2 USB ports on front panel.

One Stop Systems' Expansion Platform Adds PCI Express and PCI-X Slots to Existing Servers at up to 40Gb/s
o Connects to Gen 1 or Gen 2 host systems with either PCIe x4 or x8 host adapters
o Includes host adapter and 1-meter cable
ESCONDIDO, Calif., May 27, 2009 - One Stop Systems (OSS), a leading provider of PCI Express (PCIe) modules and systems, announces the introduction of its 3U expansion platform, adding up to four PCIe and three PCI-X add-in boards to servers with limited slot counts. This new expansion platform increases a host system's capacity by installing a PCIe x4 or x8 host adapter in its PCIe slot. A one-meter PCIe cable is included, but other length cables can be ordered. Adding an expansion system to an existing server saves time and money by eliminating the need for an additional server and provides the right mix of slot types. The 3U expansion platform is also Gen 2-compatible. Using a Gen 2 host system, the expansion platform operates at Gen 2 speeds or 5Gb/s per lane. Therefore by ordering the platform with a PCIe x8 Gen 2 host adapter, data transfers can be made up to 40Gb/s. The expansion platform can be ordered with PCIe x4 or x8 host adapters.
The expansion platform operates with either Gen 1 or Gen 2 host systems but the host server must operate at Gen 2 speeds for the expansion platform to transfer data at Gen 2 speeds. Since the expansion platform accommodates either x4 or x8 cable connectors it can operate from 10Gb/s to 40Gb/s. Additional downstream cable adapters are not necessary since the cable connectors are located on the rear of the enclosure.

"Today's 1U and 2U servers support only 2 to 4 add-in boards and more data-intensive applications often require more IO while requiring as little rack space as possible. The 3U expansion platform is the ideal solution. Additional flexibility is provided with a variety of backplane configurations. One Stop Systems provides a large selection of backplanes to choose from. Any one of them can be used in the 3U expansion platform. More slots without the added cost of an additional processor also makes for a much more economical solution."
3U Enclosure
The 19" rackmount enclosure is equipped with a 300 watt power supply, two 5-1/4" drive bays and a 3-1/2" drive bay. The thumb-latch front door is keylockable. Two USB ports are located on the front panel.
