Monitoring System can observe automated welds in real-time.
June 10, 2009 -
Weld-i 1000 System incorporates color CCD micro camera with remote controlled focus and iris for full, detailed view of torch, weld joint, puddle, and feed wire; 2 units can be positioned to observe leading and trailing views. While water-/air-cooled housing protects camera and optics from harsh local environment, desktop or rack mount controller permits on-the-fly adjustment to correct for changing process conditions. System also includes interchangeable UV filters and polarizer.
Observe Automated Welds in Real-Time with InterTest's Weld-i 1000 Monitoring System
Intertest, Inc. of Columbia, NJ introduces the Weld-i 1000 System, an innovative video based vision system that provides high-resolution color CCTV observation of weld processes. The Weld-i head is a compact water (or air) cooled housing that protects the camera and optics from the harsh local environment associated with welding. A color CCD micro camera with remote controlled focus and iris allow the operator a full and detailed view of the torch, weld joint, puddle and feed wire. High heat, hazardous UV, spatter, and fume are kept at a safe distance. An operator can concentrate his attention on making good weld with real time feedback of the process. Often two units are positioned to observe both leading and trailing views of the weld.
The mountable camera head is 1-inch diameter and 3-inches long. It's mechanical, thermal, EMI, and light-filtering features all combine to make the Weld-i user friendly, rugged and simple to use. A desktop or rack mount controller provides a user interface to brightness, gain, focus and iris (via a 5-meter cable). This permits on-the-fly adjustment to correct for changing process conditions. A replaceable spatter shield protects optical and electronic components from damage. Interchangeable UV filters and polarizer compensate for a wide range of process lighting conditions. The standard NTSC Weld-i 1000 System includes: NTSC camera head with 12-inch cable pigtail, 5-meter cable, 11mm lens, NTSC desktop control unit, UV filter with central ND spot, polarizing filter and spatter shield. Some installations require a change to the FOV, the strength of the filter, camera body temperature tolerance or the length of the cable. Several optional cables, mounting hardware and len s provide configuration and installation flexibly. Product alterations such as PAL video and right angle optics can be accommodated; contact our main office for inquiries. EM13439
The Weld-i 1000 Monitoring system is ideal for monitoring TIG, and many MIG, PAW and Laser welding applications.
