Discrete-Input Transmitters enable wireless plant monitoring.

June 1, 2009 - Approved for hazardous areas, STXW 500 and STTW 401 convert any measurement device with contact-closure switch input into wireless input. Products can transmit signals from up to 3 contact switches; STXW 500 accepts 3 discrete/digital inputs, while STTW 401 accepts thermocouple input and 2 discrete/digital inputs. Both work under OneWireless(TM) industrial wireless mesh network and are suited for applications such as monitoring level switches, pump status, and system alarms.

Honeywell Adds Discrete-Input Transmitters to OneWireless(TM) Product Line

XYR 6000 Discrete-Input Transmitters Can Help Decrease Costs and Increase Efficiency of Gathering Manufacturing Plant Data

PHOENIX, May 28, 2009 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today added two discrete-input transmitters to its family of XYR(TM) 6000 wireless devices. The STXW 500 and the STTW 401 transmitters can convert any measurement device with a contact-closure switch input into a wireless input, enabling manufacturers to decrease costs and improve efficiency by wirelessly monitoring more processes at their plants. The transmitters are ideal for applications such as wirelessly monitoring level switches, pump status and system alarms.

The new devices can transmit signals from up to three contact switches. The STXW 500 transmitter accepts three discrete/digital inputs while the STTW 401 transmitter accepts a thermocouple input and two discrete/digital inputs. Additionally, both transmitters carry intrinsically safe approvals for use in hazardous areas from FM Global and the Canadian Standards Association.

"One of the most significant benefits of industrial wireless technology is its ability to simplify operations without major expense," said Raymond Rogowski, manager of global product marketing for field instrumentation, Honeywell Process Solutions. "These new XYR 6000 transmitters fall right in line with that philosophy by enabling plants to convert existing measurement devices to wireless solutions without needing to replace the equipment."

The STXW 500 and STTW 401 transmitters complement the other wireless transmitters in Honeywell's XYR 6000 product line, which includes: absolute and differential pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, analog transmitters, corrosion monitoring transmitters and gauge pressure transmitters.

The XYR 6000 Series wireless transmitters all work under the Honeywell OneWireless(TM) solution, the company's industrial wireless mesh network designed to meet the ISA100.11a hardware requirements. The network can simultaneously support thousands of devices at a facility - including various transmitters, mobile operator devices and physical security equipment - to help operators improve overall operations by more efficiently monitoring processes, assets and people.
