PerkinElmer Introduces New Gigahertz Photon Detection Module at Sensor + Test 2009

New Photon Detection Module Delivers Highest Dynamic Range and Very Low Noise for Demanding Fluorescence and Luminescence Applications

Nurnberg, Germany - May 27, 2009 - Sensor + Test 2009 - Hall 12, Stand No. 12-638 - Today at Sensor + Test 2009, PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment, announced the introduction of its new Gigahertz Photon Detection Module (GPDM) for analytical and clinical diagnostic applications under low light level conditions.

The new module, the latest addition to PerkinElmer's Channel Photomultiplier family, offers the world's highest dynamic counting range between 1 cps and 1 Gcps in a single operating mode, coupled with extremely low noise performance. As a result of the new Gigahertz module's high dynamic range and high signal to noise (S/N), OEMs can perform fluorescence and luminescence measurements with a single detection system.

"PerkinElmer is pleased to introduce at Sensor + Test 2009 our new Gigahertz Photon Detection Module," said Michael Ersoni, vice president and general manager of PerkinElmer global detection business. "We are focused on aggressively expanding our range of photon detection offerings for low light level analytical and clinical diagnostic applications that ultimately help to ensure longer, fuller lives."

PerkinElmer will exhibit the new Gigahertz Photon Detection Module for Fluorescence, Luminescence, High Throughput Screening, Flow Cytometry, and DNA Analysis, at Hall 12,Stand No. 12-638, at Sensor + Test 2009 which takes place May 26 - 28 in Nurnberg, Germany.

Additionally, the Company will present a paper entitled, "New Channel Photomultiplier CPM Electronic Module Enables Fluorescence and Luminescence Measurement over Nine Decades including Single Photon Detection" on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 11:05 AM to 11:25 AM in CCN West, Room Amsterdam. The paper is part of OPTO 2009, running concurrently with the Sensor + Test exhibition.

PerkinElmer is a leading innovator in infrared sensing and photon detection technologies for a range of OEM applications that contribute to a healthier, cleaner and safer tomorrow.
