May 27, 2009 - Providing repeatability of ±1 micron, model PMT320 features load capacity of 500 kg. Flatness and straightness run-out is ±2 microns over any 100 mm travel. Unit features 320 mm wide die-cast base profile, 1,000 mm stroke stage weighing 70 kg, size 25 precision linear profile rails for linear guidance, and linear encoder. It is available with 2 drive options, with maximum acceleration up to 5 m/sec² and speed up to 500 mm/sec², depending on drive chosen.

High Precision Positioning Stage for Long Travel


BURLINGTON, MA, May 22, 2009 - Steinmeyer, Inc. announced an exciting new addition to its line of precision linear stages. Manufactured by our FMD division, Dresden Germany, the model PMT320 offers a repeatability of +/- 1 micron, excellent straightness run-out accuracy and travel distances from 600 to 1500 mm. The stage has a 320 mm wide die cast base profile and the 1000 mm stroke stage weighs 70 kg.

The PMT320 series offers two drive options, a servo linear motor or DC rotary motor with precision ground ball screw. Position feedback is provided by a linear encoder. Depending on the drive chosen, maximum acceleration of 5 m/s² and maximum speed of 500 mm/s² can be achieved.

Linear guidance is provided by size 25 precision linear profile rails, which gives the PMT320 a load capacity of 500 kg. Flatness and straightness run-out is +/- 2 microns over any 100 mm travel.

For harsh environments, an optional steel cover is available to protect the components. This stage is ideal for applications in laser technology (laser cutting), automation, metrology and solar technology (e.g. thin film) markets.
