MBX Systems Introduces Fully-Configured Server Racks to Expedite Large-Scale Appliance Deployments

MBX can now integrate multiple appliances in a single server rack to optimize large-scale applications; reduces the time, complexity and expense of implementation.

WAUCONDA, Ill., May 19 / / - MBX Systems, a leading manufacturer of server appliances for OEMs and independent software vendors (ISVs), today announced the availability of fully-configured server racks for companies who deploy appliance-based applications. The introduction was made at Interop Las Vegas 2009, happening May 17-21 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, where MBX is displaying its branded server appliance designs in booth #1009.

Fully-configured server racks are beneficial when deploying large-scale solutions most often associated with storage, SaaS, data center or other scalable applications. The rack is configured from the ground up precisely for an application, including power and cabling requirements. Redundancy is built in at all levels resulting in high reliability and availability. Multiple racks can be configured jointly and powered together, with system and configuration data and its location provided on each unit in the rack.

Building server racks is a natural extension for MBX to support its growing number of customers deploying multiple appliances for their application. "Combining systems on a common backbone creates a large-scale and extremely powerful application," says Jill Bellak, MBX Systems chief operating officer." It also becomes a competitive advantage for our customers when they can demonstrate that their high-performance, scalable solution is quick and easy to deploy."

Scalability and interoperability are part of the appeal of racked appliances. It enables rapid data movement between the appliances, and allows the storage capacity of the application to be expanded more economically. With MBX's ability to brand appliances and the rack, it can promote the brand's identity in the data center.

In addition to configuring the systems MBX will procure and configure any special components such as the switches and power distribution units (PDUs). Racked appliances can be built to comply with country-level certification requirements for global deployment. MBX has the ability to dynamically outfit power for the systems for a full array of power and outlet requirements.

MBX builds appliances using best-of-breed platforms and leveraging open systems technology. MBX recently added new appliance platforms featuring Intel® Xeon® processors (code name Nehalem) for unprecedented processing power.
