Super smooth workflow towards FEA/CFD simulation
The new Mimics is the perfect solution for image based FE or CFD analysis. Thanks to the introduction of its brand new volume mesher, Mimics 12.1 makes it possible to prepare your scanner images for FEA/CFD simulation through a single streamlined process. Transition from CT scans to instantly usable files goes in five quick steps: create a 3D object, optimize the surface mesh, generate volume mesh, assign material properties and export the result to the FEA/CFD package of your choice. The introduction of the volume mesher means you don't have to exit Mimics to prepare your model. This reduces a lot of the time needed to prepare geometry for realistic computational analyses.
Quick and accurate segmentation of the most complex scanner data
Complex areas such as muscles, brain, etc. can sometimes be very time-consuming to segment. To speed up the process, we've added a flood-fill tool to the segmentation toolbox. It allows you to 'flood' a certain region, but automatically stops expanding when you reach the region's boundaries. As a result, even the most complex areas of your scanner data can be segmented in the blink of an eye. Combining the flood-fill tool with image filtering and slice interpolation gives you the power to segment any image, no matter how detailed, with the highest level of speed and accuracy.
Highly flexible filtering of your images
We've also added a preview function to the filter utility. This functions allows you to preview the filter's effects on a single image. Because it eliminates the necessity for running lengthy calculations on the single dataset before you can view or change the setting, it saves a lot of time. After the preview, you can either change the filter's setting, or apply the filter to the entire dataset.
