Amnis Launches New ImageStreamX Imaging Flow Cytometer

SEATTLE, May 8 -- Amnis Corporation, a manufacturer of advanced cell imaging systems, today announced the launch of the new ImageStreamX imaging flow cytometer. The new instrument - the second generation of the patented ImageStream(R) technology - combines the speed, sensitivity, and phenotyping abilities of flow cytometry with the detailed imagery and functional insights of microscopy. The new ImageStreamX greatly expands the capabilities of the platform with faster sample throughput, more excitation lasers and detection channels, higher image quality, and greater productivity.

"The ImageStreamX is ten times faster, has better quality imagery, and can now produce up to 12 images per cell," remarked William Ortyn, Amnis' co-founder and Chief Operations Officer. "No other cell analysis platform gives you as much information in a single experiment or allows you to combine detailed functional and phenotypic studies," added Ortyn.

"The modularity of the new ImageStreamX allows it to fit into a much wider range of budgets, while its performance characteristics make it much more competitive against conventional flow cytometry," said David Basiji, Ph.D., Amnis' President and Chief Executive Officer.

About Amnis: Amnis Corporation, headquartered in Seattle, WA, develops, manufactures and markets instrumentation for high speed cell imaging for research and diagnostic markets. The initial ImageStream system, introduced in 2005, is in service in over 50 labs world-wide and has an excellent track record of performance and reliability. Researchers have utilized ImageStream technology to produce over 75 groundbreaking publications and numerous conference posters and presentations.
