Complying with ITU-T standard, G.728 vocoder enables encoding of 8 kHz sampled speech signals for transmission over 16 kbps channel. Algorithmic delay of 0.625 ms is achieved via use of backward adaptation of predictors and gains. Software encodes 5 sample frames of 16-bit linear PCM data into 10-bit code and also utilizes backward-adaptive linear predictive coding analysis to minimize transcoding delay.
Toronto, Canada - GAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) has enhanced its G.728 vocoder for better performance. The vocoder implements the low delay code-excited linear prediction (LD-CELP) speech compression technique specified in the ITU-T standard and provides approximately 4kHz speech bandwidth.
The software encodes 5 sample frames of 16-bit linear PCM data into 10-bit code words and employs backward-adaptive linear predictive coding analysis to achieve a low transcoding delay.
