RFID Tagging Kit promotes high-memory implementation.

April 29, 2009 - TegoXM RFID Launch Kit enables asset management over its entire life, including configuration, maintenance, and sensor integration. Along with 30 passive TegoTags(TM) that feature up to 32k of secure data each and do not require battery, kit integrates TegoView(TM) software and Intermec Technologies' IP30 EPC Gen 2 hand-held RFID reader. Software lets users initialize tags as well as read and display data, and users can access tag data even when network connectivity is unavailable.

Tego, Inc. Demonstrates World's First High-Memory, Passive RFID Tagging Solution

TegoXM RFID Launch Kit provides first complete high-memory, passive RFID solution for asset management and supply chain applications

Orlando, FL - April 27, 2009 -- Tego, Inc., the industry-leading developer of intelligent RFID tagging solutions, today announced the availability of its TegoXM high memory RFID solution, the first complete high-memory tag solution that enables asset management over its entire life, including configuration, maintenance and sensor integration for a range of industries.

Tego has packaged its RFID product offerings into the TegoXM RFID Launch Kit, which integrates the TegoTag(TM), TegoView(TM) software and RFID reader technology for easy implementation of its high memory solutions. The Kit includes 30 of the company's TegoTags, which provide up to 32k of secure data, an Intermec Technologies IP30 EPC Gen 2 hand-held RFID reader, and TegoView software that allows users to easily initialize tags and read and display data. Tego also provides technical training and support to customers using the kit.

"We provide a full, turnkey system that will allow our customers to get up and running with RFID quickly," said Timothy Butler, president and CEO of Tego, Inc. "The combination of our high-memory tags and standards-based software, along with our focus on real world use cases, provides a solution for a wide variety of service, maintenance and asset tracking applications that are otherwise not well-served by current passive or active RFID solutions."

Tego's high-memory TegoTags provide active tag functionality in a traditional, standards-based passive RFID tag. The tags can store more than 500 times the amount of data held on common passive tags, but without the need for a battery. Using standard reader equipment, users can access the tag data even when network connectivity is unavailable. By storing the data directly on the tag as opposed to using a serial number on the tag to connect to a database, users can access maintenance or shipping histories, product information, or detailed track-and-trace information at the point of activity. Enterprises can share information across the supply chain and throughout an asset's entire lifecycle.

The EPCglobal Gen2 and ISO 18000-6C compatible tags can survive high temperature environments and radiation, and can be used to manage sensors and controls. And unlike other RFID tags, the TegoTag can store data securely for 20+ years, making them ideal for tracking applications that involve high-value, long-lived assets such as aircraft and industrial vehicle components, industrial equipment, reusable totes and pallets, and a variety of fixed assets that operate in harsh environments.

"TegoTag technology provides a solution for applications where valuable business information is needed in the tag," Butler said. "Passive RFID tags are typically network dependent. The TegoTag allows access to asset data in transit or in the field, even where there is no network connection."

The Windows CE/Mobile w/.NET-based TegoView software, which comes preloaded on the hand-held RFID reader, supports the Air Transport Association (ATA) Spec 2000 standard for writing tag data, randomly accessing stored information on the tag, and providing pre-configured and automatic reports for reader display.

Tego has initially targeted its solutions for the aerospace, automotive, aviation, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, but the technology can be used in any application where network connectivity is not guaranteed, database access is limited or unavailable, assets are widely distributed and information must be stored for long periods of time. The system is ideally suited for tracking maintenance and calibration records in industrial or hospital environments, asset management in remote locations (such as in the energy or oil and gas industries), security applications, and disaster recovery.

The TegoXM solution will be demonstrated in booth #103 at RFID Journal LIVE! 2009, April 27-29, at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel, Orlando, Fla.
