Spark-Ignited Generator Sets carry US EPA-certification.

April 27, 2009 - Spark-ignited generator sets, models GGHG, GGHH, GGLA, and GGLB, range in size from 85-150 kW and are certified to exhaust emissions standards required by US EPA. Each is equipped with emissions solution package that includes electronic air-fuel-ratio (eAFR) control, oxygen sensor, and additional 3-way catalyst. This package does not change original generator set's dimensions or footprint.

Four More Spark-Ignited Generator Sets Certified by EPA for Compliance with New Emissions Standards

MINNEAPOLIS - Four additional models of spark-ignited generator sets from Cummins Power Generation Inc. have received certification to the new exhaust emissions standards required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The newly certified models - GGHG, GGHH, GGLA and GGLB - range in size from 85 kW to 150 kW.

These four models join a portfolio of five previously certified spark-ignited generator sets from Cummins Power Generation - GGMA, GGMB, GGMC, GGHE and GGHF - ranging in size from 20 kW to 75 kW.

Under the new EPA regulations, all standby spark-ignited generator sets with engines manufactured after Dec. 31, 2008 are required to meet new emissions standards. Engines not certified by the manufacturer must be brought into compliance by the owner or operator.

"These latest EPA certifications further demonstrate our continuing leadership in providing advanced emissions solutions that give our customers peace of mind," said Henry Zeng, product manager, Commercial Generator Set Business, Cummins Power Generation. "No other manufacturer can come close to our strong history of emissions leadership of power generation equipment."

Cummins Power Generation was the first to market with Tier 3 diesel generator sets. To maintain its market leadership with compliant spark-ignited generator sets, the company developed an emissions solution package that includes an electronic air-fuel-ratio (eAFR) control and an oxygen sensor for all spark-ignited generator set models, and an additional three-way catalyst for models above 80 kW. This solution package does not change the generator set's dimensions or footprint - customers can continue using the same generator set enclosures and installation dimensions but receive the benefit of lower emissions and higher performance.

Cummins Power Generation, the emissions solutions leader, develops its own emissions solutions package. Cummins tests its products independently in accordance with EPA regulations and provides the resulting data to the EPA for certification.
