Raritan's Paragon II KVM Solution Now Brings Audio and Digital Video from Target Devices to Centralized User Workstations

- Simplifies Accessing and Managing Diverse Equipment -

LAS VEGAS, April 21 -- Raritan today introduced new management features to its Paragon(R) II KVM solution and support for multiple audio and video formats vital to media-based industries. The announcement was made at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference being held this week.

Release 4.6 of the popular Paragon II analog KVM platform provides a control interface to the industry's leading audio and video router, the NVISION NV5128, in order to bring high-quality audio and digital video from various target devices to the user workstation. Program managers involved with media or broadcast production, for example, can access media editing devices and receive audio and video from those devices using the new Paragon II. Up to 16 simultaneous users can access 128 targets.

In addition to bringing audio to the user, Paragon II 4.6 enables a dual monitor configuration. NVISION NV5128 routes a target's digital video to the workstation, and the device's VGA output is also received by the workstation in the typical Paragon II KVM manner.

"Our new release of Paragon II is ideal for any situation where secure, always-available access to media editing devices and servers with quality video and audio transmission is required," said Derek Finch, Product Manager at Raritan. "Paragon II appeals to broadcast editors, post-production managers and other media and film industry users who need secure access to media equipment and servers located in centralized, controlled environments."

Since Raritan introduced the industry's first Cat5 KVM switch, the Paragon solution has been installed in thousands of data centers including some of the world's largest broadcast and production sites, such as Bloomberg, ESPN and Turner Broadcasting.

Other Paragon II features ideal for the broadcast industry include:

-- Both automatic and manual video tuning, an industry first -- With automatic tuning administrators can save setup time -- especially when managing large numbers of servers. With the manual adjustment capability, the video signal can be fine tuned for quality as well as individual preferences for viewing comfort. Video settings can be saved to a database for subsequent sessions.

-- Support for Fast Action Keyboards -- Avid's Deko Fast Action Keyboards -- which are used widely in television production studios, master control rooms and post-production facilities -- are supported.

-- Video redirection -- Ideal for applications ranging from network operation centers to broadcast control rooms, video redirection enables users to redirect a target server's video signal from one Paragon II user station to another user station's monitor for easy collaboration and real-time consultation.

About Paragon II

Through an intuitive, on-screen point-and-click interface, Paragon II provides up to 64 simultaneous users secure, non-blocked access for controlling and managing IT equipment -- even if the network goes down, because access to IT equipment is through a direct, non-IP network path. By cascading and stacking Paragon II switches, up to 10,000 servers can be managed from one Paragon II solution. KVM-over-IP access can be added with the optional Paragon II user station (P2-USTIP) or by connecting to Raritan's Dominion KX-II.
