Transmission Dynamometers Benefit from Zero-Max CD® Couplings

- They Handle High Stresses And Fit Into A Smaller Envelope

Plymouth, Minnesota: New CD Couplings® from Zero-Max are the ideal choice for use in heavy duty dynamometers for transmission output testing. CD Couplings provide the ideal combination of high dynamic load capacity and high torsional stiffness to ensure reliable system operation.

A better alternative than overly cumbersome steel disc couplings, CD Couplings can be designed to fit in a much smaller envelope. This key feature enables the dynamometer to be built with a much smaller footprint. Considering the cost of floor space and the manufacturing cost savings in the machine base, the CD coupling provides an amazing value.

"The high performance qualities of a CD shaft coupling handles the high stress input speeds and output loads of these heavy duty dynamometers better than any other coupling device," reports Robert Mainz, Zero-Max sales manager. "The coupling gives the system operator assurance that the performance information generated is accurate."

CD couplings have unique design qualities that are robust to ensure that these dynamometer applications are dependable. CD couplings are designed so that the working part is made of a composite material. The composite disc design withstands the punishment and stresses associated with this application. "Everything that a dynamometer tester can dish out," reports OEM designers.

CD couplings are available in single and double flex models with or without keyways. The single flex models have a torque capacity range from 40 Nm to 1436 Nm and beyond with speed ratings from 4400 RPM to 17,000 RPM. Zero-Max will design and build custom CD couplings to handle virtually any difficult application.
