Impact Testing Machine maximizes operator safety.

April 30, 2009 - Model SI-1M, SI Series Motorized Pendulum Impact Testing Machine with Fracta(TM) Software enables data acquisition and calculation of energy. Suited for testing metals to Charpy and Izod standards, it has available energy up to 450 J. Safety is optimized by motor-driven raising of dual-latched hammer, with auto-return after test, and safety enclosure with interlocks that prevent hammer from dropping when specimen door is open and stop movement when any door is open.

Instron® Introduces New Motorized Pendulum Impact Testing System

Advanced design eliminates operator error while enhancing operator safety

Instron, a leading provider of testing equipment engineered to evaluate mechanical properties of materials and components, introduces its new SI Series Motorized Pendulum Impact Testing Machine (Model SI-1M) with Fracta(TM) Software, for simple data acquisition and calculation of energy. Ideal for testing metals to Charpy and Izod standards, the SI-1M has available energy up to 450 Joule.

The Model SI-1M features motor-driven raising of the hammer with auto-return after the test and a dual latched hammer to avoid accidental release or test execution. The safety enclosure includes interlocks which prevent the hammer from dropping when the specimen door is open and stop movement while any door is open. ASTM-E23 Charpy striker, anvils and shrouds are included with the system.

The SI-1M is designed to meet the following standards when used with proper accessories: ASTM E23 Standard Test Methods for Notched Bar Impact Testing of Metallic Materials; EN 10045 Charpy Impact Test on Metallic Materials; ISO 148 Metallic Materials - Charpy Pendulum Impact Test; and GOST 9454-78 Impact Bending Test Method at Low, Room and High Temperatures. It is also CE Certified.

Optional features include Charpy strikers to non-ASTM specifications, instrumented Charpy strikers, and non-instrumented Izod striker and fixture. The system is also designed for easy upgrading to Dynatup Impulse data acquisition software which uses load and velocity transducers to provide data collection, analysis and reporting results.
