DVS Unveils Hardware Accelerated RED Workflows with CLIPSTER®

At NAB DVS is showing real-time full quality 4K Decoding and Debayering of RED material with its flagship product CLIPSTER®. REDCODE(TM) RAW files can be easily combined with other file and video formats providing a flexible data handling workflow.

Hanover/Las Vegas. At NAB 2009, DVS is launching various new features for its flagship product CLIPSTER®, allowing for an extended range of applications in post production, film and broadcast markets. Among these customers can benefit from CLIPSTER's support for real-time workflows of RED material using special DVS hardware acceleration.

DVS's new real-time RED workflow dramatically accelerates post production finishing. RAW data generated by the RED camera can be directly displayed, edited in the timeline and played out in parallel in 4K. CLIPSTER's new hardware decodes and debayers RED RAW files in full quality at 4K 12 bit RGB mode. All of CLIPSTER's real-time effects can be used up to 4K.

REDCODETM RAW files can be combined with other file and video formats offering a flexible data handling workflow. Likewise for NLE systems all REDCODE(TM) RAW files can be converted into Avid DNxHD® in high speed. Moreover, CLIPSTER® expedites the conforming process with RED RAW data by completely integrating RED(TM) metadata.

CLIPSTER's Conforming Tool manages high-resolution RED content via an offline EDL, ALE, Final Cut Pro(TM) XML or Cutlist. A split screen can be used to compare 4K RAW 12 bit material with the offline proxies.

Bernhard Reitz, Head of Product Management at DVS: "We have worked closely with RED to provide this revolutionary workflow with CLIPSTER®. By processing full quality 4K 12 bit RED material in real time with our hardware acceleration, our customers can dramatically increase their productivity and flexibly organize their workflows and content."
