Co-Extruded Railing adds to contractor decking designs.

April 16, 2009 - Able to complement Latitudes Capricorn(TM) tropical decking as well as other types of wood decks, Latitudes® Luster(TM) bronze-colored railing coordinates with dark streaks in richly colored composite deck boards, adobe and koa, which have woodgrain pattern that resembles exotic hardwoods. Railing is made from engineered wood-plastic composite and co-extruded with fade-resistant, acrylic top layer that will not chalk. Low-maintenance system lends to clean look with no exposed hardware.

Latitudes® Launches Luster(TM) Co-Extruded Railing System

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 14, 2009 - Universal Forest Products (Nasdaq: UFPI), makers of Latitudes® Composite Decking and Railing, announces the addition of Latitudes Luster(TM) railing.

The Latitudes Luster railing system is a perfect complement to Latitudes Capricorn(TM) tropical decking.

The bronze-colored railing coordinates well with the dark streaks in the richly colored composite deck boards, adobe and koa, which have a reversible woodgrain pattern that resembles exotic hardwoods.

Latitudes Luster railing is made from engineered wood-plastic composite and co-extruded with a durable, fade resistant acrylic top layer that won't chalk. This provides an ultra-low maintenance railing system with a clean look and no exposed hardware.

"Our new Luster railing is a great complement to our Latitudes Capricorn tropical decking line. It's also a great fit for many other types of wood decks. Contractors will enjoy working with it, as it's simple to install and can be shipped direct to the job site using our Xpress ship program," said Dick Gauthier, VP of marketing for Universal Forest Products.

Luster railing is available in bronze 6' kits providing all of the components necessary for straight rail sections and angled stair rail sections. Additional items, including straight and angled railing baluster kits, post sleeves, traditional and solar post caps, and post base trim, are available separately. Latitudes Luster railing is backed by a 20-year limited warranty.
