Test System supports active cable solutions.

April 23, 2009 - Designed for cables that incorporate MagnifEye Active chip technology, VerifEye works by accessing on-chip high-speed test functions. Line Mode is used on production floor to carry out at-speed testing of active cable up to 10.2 Gbps. Typical test time for active cable is 5 sec, reported to line operator through GUI. Used in cable assembly design and development, Lab Mode accesses and controls equalizer technology in MagnifEye Active device in-cable, recording and reporting cable performance.

RedMere Adds VerifEye, the Active Cable Manufacturing Test Platform, to Product Suite

Dublin, Ireland - April 8th 2009 - RedMere, the leader in high-speed active cable technology solutions, introduces VerifEye, the world's first dedicated production test platform and design tool for active cables.

VerifEye is a manufacturing tester for cables which have incorporated RedMere's MagnifEye Active chip technology. The unit supports the high-volume production of advanced active cable solutions.

The VerifEye platform works by accessing on-chip high-speed test functions in the MagnifEye Active chip, thus eliminating the need for expensive and specialized lab equipment on the production floor. "The great advantage of the VerifEye platform is that it offers the confidence of a 100% test with an alternative to expensive multi-Gbps test equipment, reducing the overall cost of the active cable assembly", commented Chris Russell, VP Sales at RedMere. "This allows active cables to be tested very quickly and very cost-effectively."

The VerifEye platform operates in two modes - VerifEye Line and VerifEye Lab. The Line mode is used on the production floor to carry out at-speed testing of the active cable up to 10.2Gbps. Typical test time for an active cable is 5 seconds, reported to the line operator through a simplified GUI. The unit also provides statistical analysis from the production line to support yield, reliability and quality improvements.

The VerifEye Lab mode is used in cable assembly design and development. The advanced user interface allows cable designers to access and control the high-performance equaliser technology embedded in the MagnifEye Active device in-cable, recording and reporting cable performance. This allows cable designs to be tuned in a development environment prior to production.

Further details are available on the company's website.
