Trend Communications Launches the Trend Multipro SDH

Trend Communications launches the Trend Multipro SDH - a portable, hand held tester for use by technicians working on SDH and PDH services to 2.5 Gbit/s.

The rugged tester, the latest addition to the Trend Multipro range, covers SDH from STM-16 right down to STM-0, PDH from E4 down to E1 as well as T-Carrier at DS3 and DS1

The new, innovative and versatile battery operated tester employs a large touch screen which makes it very easy to use. The software modularity of the Multipro ensures that a wide variety of user features can be added covering installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of SDH and other networks.

To allow simple and rapid tests the Trend Multipro SDH auto configures itself so minimising operator involvement. Tests which can be carried out by the instrument include BER, errors and alarms. Optical interface kits cover a wide range from of requirements and include short haul and long haul for both 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths.

Sales and Marketing Director Ken Foan emphasised some of the significant features of the novel SDH tester. "We have listened to customers and included what they want: fast scan, user programmable pass/fail limits, full error performance tests, SFP (small form-factor pluggable) interfaces as well as capture of OH bytes."

Ken Foan further pointed out that the new Trend portable unit is easy to use, has the most comprehensive set of error performance tests in any hand held unit as well as providing the most complete set of event insertion modes in any hand held unit.

The new SDH application can easily combine with Trend's current Multipro Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) tester providing the perfect solutions in mixed technology metropolitan area and transport networks.

The Trend Multipro SDH is another addition to the rapidly expanding range of hand-held telecommunications test instruments from Trend for installation and maintenance field engineers. It is available now from Trend's Maidenhead headquarters or from international sales offices.
