Capable of winding film in widths from 80-140 in. with single or dual winder configuration, PAC 60 uses center shaft support for 3 in. cores to wind multiple slit rolls to 30 in. OD, while 40 in. rolls are wound on 6 in. shafts. It comes with motorized roll cart and shaft puller fully integrated into PLC-based controller, which reduces operator lifting of shafts and promotes winding automation. For stretch film, lay-on roll eliminates air and improves film relaxation prior to winding.
(Somerville, N.J.)--Davis-Standard's newest PAC 60 surface winder is capable of winding film in widths up from 80 inches (2,000mm) to 140 inches (3,500mm) with a single or dual winder configuration. This winder, developed from the successful platform of the PAC 60 introduced a few years ago, uses a center shaft support for 3-inch (75mm) cores to wind multiple slit rolls to a 30-inch (750mm) outside diameter, while 40-inch rolls are wound on 6-inch (150mm) shafts.
This model is equipped with a motorized roll cart and shaft puller that is fully integrated into the winder's PLC-based controller. This reduces operator lifting of shafts and automates the winding process to a higher level. A hydraulic pressure control system for lay-on arms and center assist winding motors facilitate good roll starts, which lead to high quality large rolls. For stretch film, a special lay-on roll is utilized on the surface drum in-feed to eliminate air and improve film relaxation prior to winding.
The PAC 60 has proven an efficient option for stretch film winding or large roll mill operations where films are converted in lamination or made into bags or sacks off-line. This winder is designed with lay-on pressure control to prevent blocking at the core and features a shaft accelerator to bring the new core to higher line speeds and make transfers via an auto-cut traversing knife. The PAC 60 is capable of speeds exceeding 200 meters per minute. While available in 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90-inch models (1,000 to 2,300mm), the new winder extends that range to 165 inches (4,200 mm).
