Analyzer measures T-DMB and DAB signals in real-time.
March 30, 2009 -
With ETL-K250 option, ETL TV Analyzer performs all required RF measurements for digital audio broadcasting and terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting transmitters and networks. Option features modulation error ratio of greater than 40 dB, which allows precise testing of high-grade signal sources. Channel impulse response and constellation diagram are created in real-time, enabling users to evaluate signal quality on site when performing transmitter and coverage measurements.
R&S ETL TV Analyzer Measures T-DMB and DAB Signals in Realtime
Munich, March 13, 2009 - Rohde & Schwarz offers a new option for its R&S ETL for the DAB (digital audio broadcasting) and T-DMB (terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting) standards. This makes the TV analyzer the world's first instrument to perform all required RF measurements for DAB and T-DMB transmitters and networks. The extensive signal analysis capabilities of the R&S ETL enable transmitter operators, transmitter manufacturers and regulatory authorities to selectively detect error sources, enabling them to eliminate the causes quickly - and in realtime.
The new R&S ETL-K250 option features a modulation error ratio (MER) of greater than 40 dB that allows absolutely precise testing of high-grade signal sources such as transmitters and modulators. Channel impulse response and constellation diagram are created in realtime. This enables users to swiftly evaluate signal quality on site when performing transmitter and coverage measurements. Plus, all DAB or T-DMB programs and data services are made visible on the instrument at a glance. The R&S ETL also provides an ETI interface to transfer the demodulated transport stream to external equipment, where it can be analyzed and further processed if necessary.
T-DMB is used to transmit TV and radio programs as well as data to mobile receivers such as mobile phones, handhelds or pocket PCs. Rohde & Schwarz has already made a key contribution to testing T-DMB in practice. The standard is no longer restricted to Asia, and network operators are investing in such transmission systems worldwide. DAB continues to gain ground as well. More than 40 countries currently use this standard.
The R&S ETL-K250 option optimizes the R&S ETL TV analyzer for acceptance, maintenance and service of T-DMB/DAB transmitters, quality assurance applications in transmitter test shops and coverage measurements in transmitter networks. It is now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
