MovinCool Introduces New Spot Air-Conditioner Controller

Easier to Use, More Functional, Environmentally Friendly

LONG BEACH, Calif.-- MovinCoolŽ announced that it has introduced a new, enhanced controller for all models of its popular OfficeProŽ and Classic Plus lines of spot air conditioners. Unlike many other manufacturers who use generic controllers, MovinCool designs its controllers specifically for use with its own air conditioners, giving them a higher degree of functionality and ease of use.

Even though it is not required for products sold in North America, the environmentally friendly controller is fully compliant with the European Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive. This directive restricts the presence of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in electrical and electronics products. Most such products eventually find their way into landfills, where the hazardous substances they contain can leach into groundwater.

The controller has several new features, including a larger, brighter LCD screen on its control panel. In normal usage, the display screen shows the current time, day of the week, room temperature, set temperature, fan hi/lo mode and cool on/off mode. An alternate programming screen shows all the days of the week in a single view, making the controller even easier to program than previous models.

In addition, users can now conveniently track the total operating time of a unit, an especially welcome feature for rental dealers. Users can also lock the control panel, in order to prevent unauthorized personnel from changing settings.

An important safety feature is the controller's water-level alert system. If the condensate tank becomes full, the system turns the air conditioner off, illuminates a red light on the control panel and sends an electrical output signal, which can be used to activate an alarm or other warning device. The controller can also receive electrical input signals from a fire-alarm control panel, allowing the controller to shut the air conditioner down in order to prevent it from possibly spreading smoke.

"Our customers were satisfied with our previous controller, but our company philosophy is to continually improve, as well as to be proactive in creating products that are better for the environment," said John Doran, senior manager, Commercial and Industrial Systems. "In this case, the result is a new controller that makes our air conditioners even more user-friendly than before, and more environmentally friendly too."
