NanoInk Reinforces Leadership of Nanofabrication Market with the Launch of Its DPN 5000 Desktop NanoFabrication System

NanoInk to Showcase DPN 5000 at Pittcon 2009, March 8-13, Booth #2315

SKOKIE, IL -- 02/12/2009 -- NanoInk's NanoFabrication Systems Division introduced its next generation Dip Pen Nanolithography® (DPN®) system for desktop nanofabrication, the DPN 5000. Having evolved from the popular NSCRIPTOR(TM) DPN® System, this new instrument brings greater control and performance to the world of desktop nanofabrication. NanoInk's DPN 5000 will make its first public debut during Pittcon® 2009, March 8-13, booth 2315, McCormick Place, Chicago.

Tom Levesque, Vice President of the NanoFabrication Systems Division stated, "The DPN 5000 incorporates the development feedback from over 60 NanoInk customers and delivers the highest level of lithography capabilities, flexibility and scalability in any tip-based system to date. Now, users can fabricate nanoscale features rapidly without the need for expensive clean room facilities."

NanoInk DPN Desktop NanoFabrication System
The DPN 5000 offers versatile nanopatterning capabilities coupled with high-performance AFM (atomic force microscopy) imaging for immediate characterization of the deposited patterns. NanoInk has developed a variety of custom MEMS (micro electromechanical systems) based ink delivery devices, allowing a wide range of materials to be deposited under precisely controlled conditions.

System highlights include a new, ultra-low noise scanner with closed-loop flexure technology to produce accurate and repeatable nanoscale patterns. For subsequent imaging of substrates, a low coherence laser with a reduced laser spot size assures high quality lateral force imaging. In addition, NanoInk's enhanced lithography software, InkCAD(TM) 4.0, includes improved control of tip-based patterning, along with nanoscale mapping and positioning, allowing users to precisely position multiple features even when created from different materials.

The DPN 5000 comes fully equipped with a full range of enabling MEMS based ink delivery consumable items. Manufactured in NanoInk's MEMS facility, these DPN patterning tools include single probes, 1D passive probe arrays, individually actuated Active Pen(TM) Arrays, 2D probe arrays with up to 55,000 pens (2D nano PrintArray(TM)), Inkwells for coating tips, and substrates to be written upon. These devices allow researchers to rapidly create nanostructures using numerous materials including proteins, DNA, nanoparticles, and polymers.

Dip Pen Nanolithography (DPN) is NanoInk's patented process for deposition of nanoscale materials onto a substrate. The vehicle for deposition may include pyramidal scanning probe microscope tips, hollow tips and tips on thermally-actuated cantilevers. As this technology has developed over the last five years, the demands from users led NanoInk to release an advanced system for desktop nanofabrication.

Pittcon is the world's premier Conference and Exposition devoted to laboratory science. Since 1950 Pittcon has been produced by the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, which is a Pennsylvania not-for-profit, educational corporation organized by the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh (SSP) and the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh (SACP). More information on Pittcon is available at www.pittcon.org.
