Compunetix Introduces Hazardous Area Communications Console
New product extends usage to explosive and outdoor environments
MONROEVILLE, Pa., Feb. 12 / / - The Federal Systems Division of Compunetix has started shipping the much anticipated HAI (Hazardous Area Instrument) to customers. The HAI, a communications console designed to operate with Compunetix CONTEX mission voice systems, interconnects multiple audio sources - such as phone lines and radios - in areas where explosive gases may be present. The HAI has been tested by an independent Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory and certified per UL 1604, Electrical Equipment for use in Class I and II, Division 2, and Class III Hazardous Locations. The HAI has received the Class I, Division 2, Groups A - D, T6 rating.
The HAI is available in a single audio version and a secure/non-secure version, both of which provide real-time access to multiple voice sources. This new instrument provides 96 line keys, a speaker, and headset jacks (an accessory extends the headset range up to 100 feet). The HAI is designed to safely provide communications in environments where explosive gases may be present. The unit is sealed to resist outdoor elements such as rain and dust, and it uses non-sparking circuitry. The unit's large buttons allow access by users wearing gloves or SCAPE suits.
"We are very excited about the introduction of the HAI. It was gratifying to see how our ISO certification made the approval process quick and easy," stated Michael Hockenberry, Federal Systems Division Manager. "The Compunetix team focuses on providing solutions that help our customers complete successful missions. The introduction of the HAI is another step in that important role. Compunetix will be introducing a number of new products to the marketplace in the near future."
