Elastocon Adds to TPE Product Line: Introduces Clear, High Strength, Oil-Free and Phthalate-Free Thermoplastic Elastomers

ROCHESTER, IL (February 12, 2009) - A new series of clear (CLR), non-blooming TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers) from Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc. is claimed to eliminate oil bloom onto wood and other surfaces or materials by being completely oil-free.

Because the new TPEs are non-blooming as well as latex and phthalate-free (no plasticizers), thus making the material a great alternative to silicone and PVC, they are well suited for both medical products and children's toys. This, along with the tactile feel, makes them ideally suited for applications that might include protective feet and pads and bumpers for desk accessories, desktop and countertop electronics and appliances and furniture. The special high resilience properties enable the new clear TPEs to be used as protective covers for consumer electronics as well.

The new ElastocoCLR65 (65 Shore A) and CLR75 (75 Shore A) Series of clear TPEs
provide the following benefits:

o clear, oil-free, non-blooming (an excellent replacement for silicone)

o phthalate-free

o easy to process, no drying required (can be injection molded or extruded)

o extremely light weight, yet strong and durable

o can be overmolded onto polypropylene (PP)

o high tensile strength

o odorless

According to Elastocon sources, 25 lb. sample quantities are immediately available.

At the present time, Elastocon offers the 2800 Series and 8000 Series of TPEs, the SMR Series of TPOs, the STK Series for overmolding, and alloys, all of which can be injection molded, extruded, blow molded or compounded. Elastocon thermoplastic elastomers do not require drying and are offered for applications that require rubber-like properties, impact resistance, colorability, a good surface finish, easy processability, reduced material usage and numerous other features and benefits. All Elastocon grades are free from latex, and are RoHS and California Proposition 65 compliant, with many of the company offerings being FDA compliant, as well as UL and NSF approvable, and are suitable for medical applications. Elastocon can provide ISO reporting for manufacturing and shipping. All grades are reclaimable and recyclable.
