Arisant to Introduce 'Supplemental DBA' Service at RMOUG Conference in Denver February 11-12
Service helps stressed-out database administrators at small and medium-sized companies
DENVER, Feb. 5 /- Arisant LLC, (http://www.arisant.com/) a Colorado-based integrator of Oracle IT solutions for business and government, will be launching its "Supplemental DBA" service at the annual Rocky Mountain Oracle User Group (RMOUG) conference on February 11-12 at the Colorado Convention Center. The service is designed to provide relief for stressed-out Oracle database administrators (DBAs) -- who are often expected to be on-call 24/7/365 to monitor and manage their company's Oracle IT environments.
Supplemental DBA provides database administration and environment support services for small and medium-sized companies using Oracle technologies. The service supplements both time and expertise; it offers night, weekend and vacation coverage and provides expert personnel who have a deeper level of technical experience than many companies have available on staff. Unlike other DBA services, Arisant's Supplemental DBA service is 100% U.S.-based and it extends beyond the Oracle database to include support of operating systems, hardware, storage layers and applications.
"We pooled our decades of DBA and IT services experience and developed a support program that allows smaller businesses to have the same kind of coverage and expertise as large corporations," said Kathy Robb, one of Arisant's founding partners. "We're seeing a trend where many smaller companies are relying on a single DBA, or maybe even a part-time DBA," said Robb. "It can be very stressful for one person to be on call all the time, and the level of knowledge necessary today includes more than just the database."
The centerpiece of the Supplemental DBA service is Polaris, Arisant's proprietary software tool. Polaris can be cost-effectively deployed to monitor and proactively address database problems, "self-healing" them before they affect business operations and end users. With Polaris monitoring for problems in real time and Arisant's technical staff monitoring Polaris, the customer's database administrators and IT support personnel no longer have to be tethered to a beeper around the clock. In addition, companies with existing monitoring infrastructures such as HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli(R) can seamlessly integrate Polaris to provide additional coverage.
"We use Arisant's Supplemental DBA service because not only do we receive database administration and support but also a high level of Oracle and OS expertise around the clock," said Noel Bernens, VP of IT for i wireless, a national cellular service provider based in Cincinnati. "We get the same database reliability, security and performance that the large corporations get, at a price that's reasonable for a smaller business."
Arisant will be exhibiting in booth 9 at the Colorado Convention Center during the RMOUG Training Days event February 11-12. The event attracts about 800 Oracle users from the western United States and around the world.
