Cryogenic Impingement Freezer features sanitary design.

February 16, 2009 - Designed in accordance with U.S. Department of Agriculture and American Meat Institute guidelines for sanitary design, Hygienic Cryogenic Impingement Freezer produces consistent, uniform freeze that locks in moisture and minimizes dehydration. Freezer is suited for processors that want to completely freeze food products, or to augment existing capacity by crust freezing before moving product into mechanical freezer.

Linde North America Introduces Hygienic Cryogenic Impingement Freezer

New freezer to debut at International Poultry Exposition in Atlanta

Murray Hill, New Jersey, U.S., January 22, 2009 - In this uncertain economy, food processors are seeking more than ever to achieve a difficult balancing act: improving their bottom line while containing costs and producing high quality, safe food for consumers.

Linde, a member of The Linde Group, the leading global gases and engineering company, is helping processors achieve this balance by offering a new, hygienic cryogenic impingement freezer that enables them to increase production capacity, quality and yield.

Visit Linde in booth 1126 at the International Poultry Exposition in Atlanta's World Congress Center, January 28-30 to see the new freezer and other cryogenic freezing and chilling options. Linde food specialists, who have decades of food freezing and chilling technology experience, also will be on hand to discuss ways to improve all aspects of your operations in this tough business environment.

"The Linde hygienic impingement freezer is perfect for processors who want either to completely freeze food products or to augment existing capacity by crust freezing before moving the product into a mechanical freezer," said Mark DiMaggio, head of food and beverage markets, Linde North America.

The hygienic cryogenic impingement freezer is designed in accordance with U.S. Department of Agriculture and American Meat Institute guidelines for sanitary design, incorporating dozens of critical hygienic principles.

The freezer delivers the highest freezing capacity per unit of floor space than any other straight-line freezer, and produces a consistent, uniform freeze that locks in moisture and reduces dehydration, resulting in higher yield. "The freezer's dehydration rates are up to ten times lower than mechanical freezing and up to five times lower than conventional cryogenic freezers," DiMaggio said. Plus, the freezer's high efficiency allows customers switching from conventional cryogenic freezing to reduce their overall nitrogen consumption between 10 and 30 percent.

Linde will feature several other freezing and chilling systems at the show, including the CRYOWAVE(TM) multi-purpose freezer, which Linde is introducing to the North American market. This European-designed, multi-purpose freezer can efficiently freeze individual quick frozen (IQF) as well as flat and trayed products, including diced poultry.

The freezer's versatile and flexible design, which uses either liquid nitrogen or carbon dioxide, agitates the product as it is conveyed through the freezer, giving it the ability to crust freeze products individually, irrespective of shape, form or orientation, without affecting product integrity.

"Combining agitation with simultaneous cryogen injection ensures the product rapidly cools, forming an outer crust that locks in the moisture, maintaining product yield and quality. The freezer's ability to easily adapt from one product to another allows customers to consolidate their freezing lines, resulting in a very cost-effective freezing solution," said DiMaggio.

The Linde Group is a world leading gases and engineering company with more than 50,000 employees working in around 100 countries worldwide. In the 2007 financial year it achieved sales of EUR 12.3 billion (USD 18.7 billion). The strategy of The Linde Group is geared towards earnings-based and sustainable growth and focuses on the expansion of its international business with forward-looking products and services.

Linde acts responsibly towards its shareholders, business partners, employees, society and the environment - in every one of its business areas, regions and locations across the globe. Linde is committed to technologies and products that unite the goals of customer value and sustainable development. For more information, see The Linde Group web site at www.linde.com
