LeCroy Introduces New XMC Mezzanine Card Interposer for PCI Express® Analysis

DesignCon, Santa Clara, Feb 2, 2009-LeCroy Corporation, a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial data test solutions, today introduced a new XMC Mezzanine Card Interposer for the PETracer(TM) and Summit(TM) PCI Express Protocol Analyzer product lines. This new XMC Mezzanine Card Interposer provides a dedicated probe that makes it easier to analyze data traffic from an XMC module that uses a PCI Express interface to connect to the carrier board system.

The VITA 42 Switched Mezzanine Card (XMC), developed by the VITA Standards Organization (VSO), is a small form-factor mezzanine I/O card with a high-speed connector that supports multiple fabric types including PCI Express for the embedded board market. XMC module applications include high resolution graphics display controllers, storage and networking interfaces for military, and aerospace systems.

"PCI Express XMC modules provide the bandwidth and performance needed for next generation applications," said Ray Alderman, Executive Director of VITA. "Using PCI Express Protocol Analyzers from LeCroy will enable XMC and VXS developers to insure a higher quality of interoperability and performance to their customers."

The LeCroy XMC Mezzanine Interposer Card supports PCI Express data channels with lane widths up to x8 at 2.5Gb/s data rates. PCI Express Protocol Analyzers are tools for identifying, diagnosing and solving the interoperability issues typically encountered when system integrators verify COTS XMC modules in their VXS-based systems, including problems such as inconsistent card initialization, poor I/O performance, and power up issues. Developers of XMC cards can more easily identify protocol errors and performance issues that otherwise slow down development and testing of new or updated products. The intuitive software views and built-in protocol translations aid engineers in rapid problem identification and solution, reducing time-to-market in development of XMC Mezzanine Cards.

"LeCroy is pleased to announce a dedicated probing solution for PCI Express-based XMC mezzanine card and VXS system developers," said John Wiedemeier, Product Marketing Manager, LeCroy. "Our goal is to provide tools to the development community that can increase the efficiency of engineering development for embedded systems."

LeCroy protocol analyzers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development tools. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports, which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time. Availability The XMC Mezzanine Card Interposer is now available to order. For additional information, contact LeCroy at 1-800-5LeCroy (1-800-553-2769) or visit LeCroy's web site at www.lecroy.com
