Hot Melt Glue Gun Systems speed bonding of precast forms.

February 5, 2009 - Applying adhesive in bead or dot format, 400 W all-electric TEC(TM) 3200 uses solid-state plug-in adjustable temperature controller to apply adhesive at temperatures of 202, 319, or 355°F at melt rates up to 5½ lb/hr. Requiring compressed air and electricity to operate, 500 W self-contained TEC(TM) 6300 reaches max operating temperature of 356°F in 10 min and can deliver up to 9 lb of molten adhesive/hr. Flow adjustment on back allows various spraying patterns and coating widths.

Power Adhesives Hot Melt Glue Gun System Allows Faster More Efficient Bonding of Precast Forms

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Two advanced glue gun systems introduced by Power Adhesives secure structural and architectural elements in pre-cast concrete forms easier, faster and more cost efficiently than alternative methods.

Available as an electric only extrusion or pneumatic electric applicator, the TEC(TM) 3200 and TEC(TM) 6300 hot melt spray gun systems from Power Adhesives let the pre-cast concrete industry use new materials, set forms faster and produce parts at less cost. The new systems replace commonly used double-sided tape, solvent-based adhesives, bolting, nailing, silicon or other fastening systems.

"We offer the pre-cast concrete industry two advanced hot melt applicator systems that are fast, easy to work with and are a more cost-effective way to bond elements into pre-cast forms," noted Lee Stegall, Director of Sales for Power Adhesives. "Our two new hot melt systems are specially tailored for the pre-cast industry and are truly one of the most unique and economical instant bonding systems available today."
The hot melt systems from Power Adhesives bond to wood, foam, most plastics and metals as well as to both epoxy and metal concrete forms. The systems eliminate the need to drill holes in the form to accommodate mechanical fasteners and the need to wait for other types of adhesives to cure.

The TEC(TM) 6300 Spray Glue Gun from Power Adhesives has a flow adjustment on the back that allows various spraying patterns and coating widths for optimum flexibility. This results in a smoother, more precise and safer application method when compared to other glue methods. The adhesive bonds virtually instantly with little wait time, does not require a primer and removes easily from the precast bed when clean up is required. Solvent-free application also assures employee health and safety.

The TEC(TM) Bond Precast Hot Melt Adhesive formulations from Power Adhesives provides superior strength against shear, which prevents elements from moving about on the form as the concrete is flowing and keeps critical form inserts from shifting. It remains tacky for up to three minutes in the event more precise positioning is required. Re-Crystallization of the TEC Bond Hot Melt occurs over an 8 to 10 hour period. This delayed re-crystallation provides the industry with maximum bond strength during the set-up and pour stage, but makes the adhesive easier to clean off the form when precast parts are removed.

Products Detailed

Hot Melt Glue guns being introduced include the TEC(TM) 3200 and the TEC(TM) 6300. Each system comes with several feet of pneumatic and/or electric cord and the adhesive is in a hot melt cartridge form.

o The TEC 3200 is a high output, 400 Watt all-electric applicator that applies adhesive in a bead or dot format to the pre-cast form. A solid-state plug-in adjustable temperature controller and a high efficiency heater housing apply the adhesive at temperatures of 202oF, 319oF and 355oF. This aids in successful bonding of foams. The non-stick PTFE barrel, easy-action trigger and flow adjustment options allow smooth and precise free-flow adhesive application. Melt rates are up to 5 ½-lbs per hour. The gun is loaded with 1 ¾-inch adhesive cartridges.

o The TEC(TM) 6300 is a self-contained 500 Watt electric-pneumatic applicator that requires compressed air and electricity to operate. According to Powder Adhesives, the TEC(TM) 6300 is one of the most unique and affordable bonding systems on the market. With consistent output, high quality and optimum versatility, the TEC(TM) 6300 is fast and easy to operate. It reloads using 1 ¾-inch cartridges. The applicator reaches its maximum operating temperature of 356oF in just 10 minutes cold to start and can deliver up to 9 lbs of molten adhesive each hour, depending on the adhesive used and temperature requirements.

Easy to Use

To use the spray gun systems being introduced, connect the glue-gun to an air and electrical supply. The adhesive is melted on demand as the pneumatic piston pushes glue cartridges through the melt chamber and sprays it directly onto the pre-cast form.

The TEC(TM) hot melt glue guns comply with worldwide industrial and safety standards and are available along with spare parts and accessories through strategically-located distributors in the U.S., Canada and worldwide.
